Default Syncing Outlook with Curve

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am about to buy a blackberry curve for use on verizon. I don't know much about them. With my blackberry sync'd with outlook, am i able to update my calendar on my blackberry and have it show up on my computer without connecting the blackberry with a usb? I guess in other words can you sync wireless-ly?

Not without BES.

You can have wireless sync with Google calendar.

Pardon my ignorance. BES is BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Corporations normally use these.

The plan you're looking for is most likely BIS, BlackBerry Internet Service. This allows you to connect to, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.

BES is one of those things your place of employment would setup for you to stay in sync.

Otherwise the best thing to do is just set it up as push mail, just like jsconyers said.

If you want it to sync wirelessly that bad you can get a hosted BES but that will probably add up and be a bit expensive at the end of the year.

Question

Hi, I'm also a BB newbee and I am searching this forum for info about wireless sync. I have a 8330 Curve and it is bluetooth able...today I ordered a USB Dongle because I thought it would make it possible to sync to my PC (and Outlook 2007) without plugging in to it...did I waste my money? I'm not too worried...it was only ten bucks
When I purchased the BB at the Verizon store, the guy mentioned something about a wireless USB thing but I was getting a little overloaded with information so I may have misunderstood...I switched from PALM to BB...BIG DIFFERENCE! Still trying to like this thing!

Chevy2, do a search as the Bluetooth synching topic has been covered several times in this forum. But I can tell you it's a bit hit and miss. The capability is there for you to sync via Bluetooth, however in practice it's not always that easy. A lot of users have had trouble doing it. I think it has to do with bluetooth drivers or some sort of incompatibility on RIM's end.

There is also BBerrySync and ThinkPost.net but they cost money every month.. (Don't know why I didn't mention that before.)

BT sync would be the cheapest for you.

Typically $20/month for most of the BES hosting companies. You also need a BES-capable BB data plan which costs a bit more per month on most carriers.

Very true.. I also recommended BBerrySync and Thinkpost which is cheaper then hosted BES solution and does not require the expensive place either.

Just throwing out all the options.
