If you have an sd card enable mass storage navigate on your desktop to the removable disk and you should see the ringtone folder in the blackberry folder

So it seems even the 8700 has an "official" 4.5 OS. Anyword on when we will have an 8830 package that is certified by a telco ?

oh god, I loaded 7.7 and now my phone doesn't vibrate when I get e-mails. I depend on my hip vibrating to tell me to check outlook. I just noticed I have about 20 emails =/

The 8700 is a GSM phone that's why. All GSM phones will get the update before CDMA ones.

You need to go to your previous OS folder on your computer, "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loader files" is where your old OS and new one should be. Go into the old OS folder, then go to the java folder and find the file net_rim_bb_medialoader_qualcomm.cod. Now copy this file into your jl_cmdr folder. Then right click this file, and rename it to net_rim_bb_medialoader_8830.cod. Now use the command line option in jl_cmdr to load this file onto your blackberry. Once you do this, a battery pull should restore all your tones. Let me know if any of this is not clear for you and ill try to give more details.

I couldn't find that specific folder. have like 3 folders that say net_rim_bb_medialoder then they say something else none end with qualcomm.cod. Any suggestions? Thanks

There are releases for both the 8830 and the 8330 - thus the two separate threads

New weird bug I came across today.

Wife and I were driving from Toronto (well Ajax really...) to Ottawa. Along the route I noticed that I would loose data connection (TeleNav would fail to update, no new mail, no new IM updates, no browser connectivity) even though the signal indicator said 1XEV.

My solution was to turn the radio off, turn it back on and perform a network registration.

Anyone else seen this? This has been the first real road trip since I installed .77

I see this behavior from time to time. It is fairly consistently happening after a long phone call.

How long did the "connecting to device" step take for the 8830?
