Even when I updated my GPS applications to the latest, 4.5-aware versions I still experienced the sound getting cut off at the end. Garmin, though, does not and never did exhibit this, even with the 4.5 OS. I cannot switch to Garmin, however, because the 7-day trial is over, and Garmin remembers if you tried their trial offer (so one cannot participate in the trial, allow it to lapse then just download and reinstall the application). Also, it isn't free.

My hunch is that the free ones are using the OS API to provide voice commands, whereas those that aren't free code their own voice subroutines.

Interesting...I ran Verizon's Nav on 4.5 and never had any audio clipping.

I'll have to try Nav4All or AmazeGPS and see if I have the same issue that you are having w/the free ones.

Default OS error

Since installing the OS whenever I get a message and i check it the flashing red light goes solid and won't go away. I have to do a soft reset to get it to go away. Suggestions anyone?

Are you guys telling me that Nav4All, Garmin, AmazeGPS, etc are working for you guys on OS 4.5? I was under the distinct impression that only BBMaps worked with GPS.

Something I'm missing here?

Thanks guys

I installed 4.5 from Sprint, ran it for 2 weeks, then I went back to 4.3. Too many bugs in the apps I use. Problems with 4.5 I didn't care for:
-battery drain
-memory leak
-BB Dimension Today Plus theme isn't compatible, icons reset with each battery pull.
-delay in device waking up, and delay when answering an incoming call
-when playing music thru car speakers via patch cord, you now have to select speaker when answering a call. In 4.3 phone calls would automatically play thru the car speakers.

I will wait for the next version to see if any of these glitches are fixed.

Using an external GPS puck, yes.

And I did find clipping of the voice prompts on 4.5 as noted earlier...using Amaze and Nav4All.

Interesting - my experience:

I'm not noticing any significant difference in battery usage.

Memory leaks are much less with this version than previous. I'm getting much better memory management.

I do get the delay in the device waking up, but not all the time.

My experience has been very positive as well with 4.5.0.131 on my Sprint 8130.

To get around the "wake-up" delay, I press the Blackberry key, rather than pressing the pearl, seems to work fine this way.

I have the new OS and do not have any of the problems described. Wonder what makes the difference... I am on Sprint.

Just like other OS upgrades some people have had different issues then others.

For the heavy battery drainage, do a real battery pull not just a quickpull via an application. That also fixed my initial memory leak.
Now I have the usual memory leak depending on the applications I have installed and my battery usage is back to normal.

As for the backlight delay use just about any button besides the trackball. Space or App button works best. Once I did the initial pull it seemed not be as bad either.

My upgrade was a full wipe and load the new OS, rather than an upgrade over a previous release...that may be a factor in my good results w/this OS.

I did the wipe hand before upgrading and it works fine for me. The backlight is a little slower but nothing extreme.
