But I wasn't complaining! I know I'm trying it out at my own risk, and I have NO complaints if something goes wrong and I have to re-install the previous OS from scratch. I would complain, however, if RIM started behaving like Apple, and deliberately sabotaging their most enthusiastic users by issuing software designed to 'brick' their devices. I don't think that would be a nice way to do business, and I wouldn't think it was funny, either. In fact, I'm surprised anyone on this forum would actually think such a tactic would be funny -- but life is full of surprises!

Man that sucks, why doesnt everyone go back to 4.2.2 if there are so many bugs?? It is in beta after all. Not really meant for us the general public to use. These betas are usually there for a controlled group of beta testers. Not really for us...

Seems to be working now -- but as usual I have no real idea why now as opposed to an hour ago...

.18 works wonderfully with the 8320 here.

Youtube works over wifi, which is great since I don't have data atm. The one caveat is that the dang videos are low res and half-screened. Oh well.

Themes look good, good browser, nice new fonts, snappy, better battery (better than .10, worse than 4.2.2.180) and much improved memory leak.

Hoorah.

My official opinion is that the new os, Is pretty at best.. Ive tried both .10 and.18 on an older 8310, and it definately is more "Consumer Friendly", and still missing BBMaps... So, until the official OS is relased, Ill use my 4.2.2 till she DIES!

P.S. If someone is feeling "Froggy", ive been looking into how to get BBMaps to work. If the older versions had a work around, than this one should too...

Beta is beta for a reason. Some people have upgraded and had no problems while other are having major issues. Someone stated on this forum (I forgot who) that the reason there are so many leaks of the os are because RIM gave Beta to the carriers and the employees leaked it. If RIM wanted a beta for a wider audience then they would have released it, probaly with less bugs. I agree with many people here that if you upgraded to beta and are having issues stop complaining, thats why it's beta.

Clearly, this OS works differently depending on what carrier you're with. Seems to me that people on Tmobile and 8320's don't have issues with youtube but people on ATT do. I have a few questions and these are related to 8310 on ATT only.

1. Has anyone tried to do ORB.COM. I can get test videos to stream via 3gp but not anything on my comp

2. Has anyone gotten google maps GPS to work? I tried version .01 - .03 and it doesn't work...maybe with .18 it will work?

3. Does anyone know how to receive and view videos? I can send them but I can't open any that are attachments?

Thanks.

you need a BIS/BES upgrade to get the attachment option to download/view the videos

Newbie here. i have the T-Mo BB Curve 8320 running the 4.5.18 os & the only bug i have is that the audio/ringtone is too low on a high setting. It should be as loud as the 4.2 os. The video camera resolution should be higher too.

If you are going to have software that you by all rights should never see, then deal with it, dont complain.
Thats exactly what i meant in my earlier post. The whole point of this thread was to state any issues we r having not to wonder why certain things are malfunctioning. Its BETA everyone as in not a completed product. Not to mention its not even a public beta which usually has far fewer bugs then internal betas.

TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK and please if ur new to BB's or if your just not very knowledgeable with ur device dont do it to urself.

welcome to the forums. the bold point has nothing to do with your OS, and is not a bug. it just is as it is.

I've been lurking for a while, reading this and that, and being a former Moto-Modder, I've just recently upgraded to 4.5.0.18 and I'm not having any problems other than Icon placement resetting after a battery pull. Oh, and I have 2 t-zones Icons for some ungodly reason now

The double Tzones has been an issue even in 4.2.2. Icon placement after a battery pull is usually theme dependent. Some themes do it, some dont.
