Default Locked blackberry with password, help

Please Login to Remove!

Ok first things first, the screen on my blackberry is half gone, Ive been using my phone for inbound calls and outbound calls/text (I'm good at typing without seeing). I didn't forget my BB password either.

Sooo I have the phone go into standby after a few minutes and require a password to access it (I did this so I could put a message saying, if you find this phone, send it to ...). Well it seems while the phone was in my pocket it tried to enter the password a few times and failed, now its asking for that type **** word to enter password. I forgot the word you have to type and cant read my screen. Soooo whats that word? I just need to unlock the password screen so I can unlock my phone, haha. I think you get this *enter word* thing after u screw up like 3 or 4 times.

Thank you!

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

I am not sure if the num lock button is in play.
You may need to wipe the device as a result of not getting the proper passoword inputted

the word you have to type is blackberry. But I think it would be better if you wipe your device.

you can´t wipe without password! I wipe my pearl, install OS again and after switching on it asks for password. kind a good thing if loose the phone. it is useless without password!

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I had a near-miss tonight. If you do actually forget the password, what happens after you blow it 10 times? I sync my BB several times a day, so if it went "poof" and all I had to do is resync, I wouldn't be concerned. But my guess is that it isn't this simple... So what exactly does happen?

(I set a password earlier tonight with the numlock key set by accident. It took me 7 attempts to sort it out!)

Thanks!

i bought my BB off ebay and the previous owner had neglected to wipe it. they also forgot to tell me the password. i guess that is why it was so cheap

either way, just keep entering the wrong password, then typing blackberry, then enter the wrong password until the maximum number of retries is succeeded. at that time, the phone will do a self wipe - EVERYTHING but the OS will be wiped. user data, contacts, calendar items, pictures, ringtones, and everything NOT installed with the *default* os will be erased. I think the contents of your memory card will be safe.

it will be as if you had *just* gotten the phone from your carrier and just turned it on for the first time. the phones default themes, service books, WAP configurations...etc will be in place.

hope that helps.

Oh, that doesn't so bad then. I guess (again) that the moral is to make sure you sync often~

Thanks!
