This morning I noticed that I had three downloads waiting to be installed on my device. So I went to go download them and was asked for my Blackberry ID. I have never heard of a Blackberry ID. It had one of my email addresses populated in a box. It asked that I type in a password.

I am suspicious as I do not know how Blackberry, RIM or Verizon would have gotten that email address as I do not use it to contact any of those companies. I entered the password for that email and it kicked back saying it was invalid.

Has anybody else had this issue? Is this some kind of scam?

The new version of app world uses a blackberry ID, which you create, based on an email address you provide. It's all explained when you run the new appworld.

The email is most likely your paypal registration email. The new appworld just autocompleted that line based on the email address already on record. Did you buy apps from blackberry appworld using the previous version of appworld?

If you previously had bought from the AppStore with your paypal ID:
create a new "blackberryID" with some valid email adress like:

and, then link your paypal account to it.
Afterwards, your previously downloaded apps are again availible.

However: if you agree to link your paypal account, it will automatically add some auto-billing feature, with a limit of $1200.
If you dont like this, login to your paypal account, go into your profile, and cancel the "preapproved payments plan".

That is true. It was 1500 in my case. I don't know how much risk there really is, but it bugged me so I canceled it at the paypal site also.

I forgot my new password for the new ID I was required to get for blackberry App World and in the process of trying to reset it, I am locked out for 2 hours. But it has been longer than 2 hours, How do I get back in -- ? is it two more hours every time I try? Thanks
