Question Problem with Opera 5

Please Login to Remove!

I think this is a new problem for me, but I can't be sure.

I have Opera Mini 5 beta on my Storm (9530). I can go to any of the favorites. And I can set any of the slots for favorites.

But I can't get it to just go directly to a website. I touch in the address bar in the top and type in a URL and I can't get it to go there. It doesn't matter whether I use the virtual KB and touch Go when I'm done entering the URL, or if I use the regular KB and click Return when I'm done. It just sits there and never tries to load the website.

It also doesn't matter if I'm on the home screen (where it shows the 9 favorites), or if I go to one of the favorites first and then try to go straight from there to the new URL.

I *think* this used to work, but I could be wrong.

I deleted Opera (which required a reboot) and re-installed it OTA today and it still does the same thing.

What am I doing wrong??

ps. Now that I think about it, it could be that Opera stopped working correctly after I upgraded to OS 5.0.0.328. I really don't know.

The Mini 5 Beta has two editors, and neither is quite finished. You can change via the Wrench > Settings > Advanced > Inline Editing. (I also never use the Virtual Keyboard.)

In the "inline" editor mode, you can type an address and press enter and go. Just don't press the backspace, or it'll auto-repeat until it clears the field. I wiped out several paragraphs once. It also doesn't support the BB autocorrect, auto-periods and -capitals, etc.

In the "native" editor mode, you can type an address, press enter, and it'll go absolutely nowhere. But otherwise, editing works fairly well and about as expected. I spend most of my time in the native editor.

The editor issues are, by far, my biggest gripe with the Opera Beta. It does do a far better job of handling the AJAX on my vBul forum than the Opera Mini 4.2, though, and is way faster than the BB Browser.

Thank you!!

Just to be clear to those that may follow, the problem is/was having "inline editing" turned off. With it on, either keyboard will get the page to load after I type in a URL.

But, the built-in keyboard has the bug that, with inline editing turned on, if you click the backspace key, it will repeat until everything you've typed is deleted. However, the Opera Virtual Keyboard works just fine.

Thanks again, jk!
