Default Necessary Programs

Please Login to Remove!

I wanted to ask what programs you all recommend downloading that you can't live without. Also tell me where the programs can be found and the price of them.

Thanks for all the great help and input.

There are a lot of great programs out there - some free, some not. My favorite free ones are:

- Windows Live Search
- BBWeather
- Beyond411
- Google Maps

You can check out the Aftermarket Software forum to find them, and also check out this great thread:

Default juwaack, help

I downloaded the BBWeather and everything seemed fine but when I try to access on my device it gives me an error. It says no weather profiles. Is this a program that I need to wait a while for things to download or is there truly a problem, do you have any idea??

You do need to setup your profiles by entering the zip code for the city/area you want in the Location ID, and the name of the city in description.,

also, you might need:

Did you follow these steps (EXACTLY as written):

1 - Click on the new BBWeather icon.

2 - Since no locations are set up yet, you'll receive an error that there are no profiles set up, just click OK with the trackball.

3 - Press the trackball (NOT the Menu button) and click Options.

4 - Press the Menu key and click Add.

5 - For all US locations, use the zip code for the Location. Use this for zip codes you don't know, or for non-US zip codes:

ASP.NET Resources - Determine location ID for the weather server control

6 - Enter a description name (i.e., LA, Orlando, New York).

7 - You can keep the Forecast Days at 5, or increase it up to 10 days.

8 - If you would like the temp displayed in Fahrenheit, leave the Units as 'Standard'. For Celsius, change it to 'Metric'.

9 - Click OK to save.

Press the Menu button and Close/Save to back out.

Aha...forgot about that part. Click on the BBWeather icon, then press the Menu button and go into Options. Check the box for 'Disable MDS Proxy'.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It works. Is there a way for it to show temp on the screen before clicking icon? Thought I saw that somewhere but maybe that was another program.

I also tried to download BBtoday but could not get the weather on that to change from TX, so I removed it from BB for today.

As you can tell I am not the most techno savvy person.

Hope you have a Happy Valentines Day & thank you again!

No JSanders I did not ignore you but I didn't know how to do the setup. Sorry if you took offense, none meant. I do appreciate everyone on the forum helping and giving input anytime I post.

My apologies.

No, you have to click on the icon for BBWeather before you can see the temperature.

I'd also recommend making sure you Exit the program when not in use (click Menu key, then click Exit). Some people have reported that leaving it running in the background can deplete the memory of your device, which will cause a host of other problems.

Happy Valentines

No actually he was not speaking dummy to me because I need the step by step since I am not up to speed on the BB and techy stuff yet. Anyone tech savvy would have understood what JSanders said, but I am not tech savvy yet.

I feel like I am a pest asking questions all the time but I don't know how else to figure it out.

And I do appreciate everyone's help!!!

Juwaack, ever try BBtoday? I sort of liked what I saw because it showed a percentage of battery left.

May download tonight when I return from work which I have to leave for in a few. The snow we got last night delayed us having to go in til 1 pm.

Thanks again

You're not being a pest, and not being tech savvy is not a crime. I support a wide range of users from very tech savvy to people who are almost afraid to use their devices. Different approaches work for different people.

No worries, you'll get your answers here or over at Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ.com.

I tried it once a long time ago on my old 7520 Blackberry (blech) and it locked up the device. Haven't tried it in quite a while....
