Default Final verdict? Dot Mac Reconciliation

Please Login to Remove!

From searching around on this forum, as well as others, I've found conflicting info on this topic.

1.) Can I use a .Mac account on my BB?
2.) If yes, will the two reconcile (using BIS)?

I've heard yes, and I've heard..

1.) No
2.) Yes, but only with BES

If the answer is NO or "Only with BES", is there anything that would lead you to believe that with upgrades (say, with the release of a new model like the Bold) that this may become doable?

It seems there's a good amount of you who have .Mac accounts, so hopefully there will be a good amount of first-hand accounts of how this works / how well it works.

Thank you!

It works fine on the BB as a BIS account. When used with BIS, set it up as a standard IMAP account and the necessary mail reconciliation options for deleting and you should be good to go.

Mail read/deleted on your handset are treated accordingly and mail sent from the handset show up in your Sent box as well.

Read status does not work for me through BIS. Everything else updates correctly when setup as an IMAP account. But no matter where I read the message, BlackBerry or Mac, its always Unread on the other.

Did get it to update Read status with a Yahoo account through BIS, which has been explained elsewhere.

Actually, the read reconciliation feature works great for me with dot mac. Couldn't be happier.

To be clear... if I read it on my BB it shows up as read in my inbox on my Mac. Same thing the other way around.

hmm, strange. here's what I get.

with .Mac and other email accounts:

Read on BlackBerry and .Mac shows that I did read it
Read on Mac and BlackBerry will never update to show that it was already read.

with Yahoo:
Both read sides work correctly.

oh well, not to big of a deal for me.
