Fron barJohn's batch, probably - but I understand that he has a real live contact that he'll give you...

Just received my call! I must say it is impossible to find a company that offers this level of personal customer support. I am highly impressed! I will continue to use & promote Blackberry products for years to come.

Also, thank you jnelson & barjohn for your assistance in resolving this problem! Good Work !!!

Has anyone received their 8700C replacement from RIM? I have been contacted by them but I was just wondering when they will send them out. Thanks.

Not yet- keep hoping it will be there any night when I get home.

I imagine they had to work out some kind of instructions for what to send back, how to update your PIN, correct return packaging, etc., and that its taking a little while to get things kitted up.

dont bother John with your 7100 issue...that will be something you will have to take up with your carrier/RIM im sure. BUT i wouldn't bank on it being a defect in the phone. I would imagine its just normal wear and tear. When talking to RIM about the dust issue the man that is replacing mine siad it is normal to get dust under the screen after a long period of time but not that much and not that quick, so im sure they will chalk it up to normal wear and tear and not replace it.

dwlace, actually this is an issue that plagued early runs of the 7100t, as well. we've got about 20 of these handhelds in my department, and i know a lot of them have the dust issue - mine included.

Hey all,
I called the point of contact and left a vm on Mon. What's the appropriate amount of time to wait for a call?

Yes, I had a 3 7100Ts and ALL of them had this issue. Did they ever fix this? I wasn't ever offered a "dust-free" version.

my point being that its wy to "after the fact" for them to be doing anything about it. I doubt they would replace it but that does suck that it has the issue.

can i ask how you know yours is a "fixed" model? Can you tell it apart from your old model?
This is a very valid question. I just received mine through my company but do not know how long they had it in stock. Can Blackberry Support tell me if this is one of the defective ones?

No - they are not coming through the normal channel. I recently had mine replaced for another reason, and no dust yet. It appears that only some of those coming out of a particular assembly line were affected. Odds are with you.

With that said I still think that there might be a way to tell based on some number convention when the units were manufactred. I just hope some one can figure it out some how.
