I changed the connection type to BIS-B but get the same error message as before. My Pocket Express app has no problem connecting to the Internet, so it seems that our IT policy allows it. Any other thoughts?

Then it's just a bug. Wait for the new client to come out. The joys of betas...

Default Sync Problems Also

Device:
Blackberry Pearl 8100
Avantgo 0.9.8
Carrier: T-Mobile

I am experiencing the same syncing errors. When using DIRECT or BES I get Syncing..then Error... in the status area and then back to the Welcome/Sync now page.

When using BIS-B I get
Sending Request...
Updating Content...
Error...
"An error occured during the synchronization process: Incorrect header received." I am configured using an Avantgo account I have had for a long time but never use now. I only have 2 basic RSS channels set up. I also set up a brand new Avantgo account and with only some default channels. Both account get the same errors.

I just tried installing Avantgo beta for BB on my BB8700 T-mobile device. The icon launcher shows up on my home screen. When I launch and hit synchronize, I get an ERROR flash at the bottom bar. The Welcome to Avantgo page never changes. I created a new Avantgo ID that I loaded into the options/server/manager/server setting section. Any suggestions? Also, I do not know how to remove the Avantgo launcher from my BB. I installed directly from the email link on my BB.

I used to use Avantgo when I was a Treo slug, but left because the content took a nose dive. Most content providers listed in the channel line up (at that time) were not delivering to Avantgo any longer because Avantgo was charging them a huge fee. Have the content challenges been overcome? It was really frustrating to keep selecting channels only to have the providers say they wouldn't deliver under Avantgo's terms.

Having the same problems as you, as well, I'm sure, as thousands of other folks out there. I don't believe it is fair for Avantgo to call this release a "beta", since it functionally does not work for anyone. This is more like an "alpha release" at this stage of development. Very poor exposure for Avantgo in a core business area of users.

I have gotten the same message, "invalid user ID". I am using a 7130e with verizon. Is it a verizon problem.

Thanks,

I reinstalled and upon checking my settings in my "server manager", by username is correct, but my password has the incorrect number of characters. I try to create a new server and when I enter in my password and save, upon closing and reopening, it changes the number of characters in the password.

I just downloaded it today. Same version as before .98 or .1 (however you look at it).

When is this new fixed version going to be available? I get the "incorrect headers" error as well.

The launcher is supposed to be uninstalled, but it isn't always. Yes, you can delete it if you want. The purpose of the launcher is to detect which version of the OS you're using and to automatically do the right thing: if 3.7, launch the online-only version of AvantGo, otherwise if 3.8+ download and install/upgrade the full client. We think this better than having the user download the client and get an obscure "module not found" error on a 3.7 device.

The next client will have proper version numbers listed in all the modules and in the about box so it'll be clear what version you're running. Right now 0.9.8 is the latest public version.

Default Sync problems

I also have not been able to sync my avantgo on my bb pearl. Will avantgo notify us by e-mail when the new release is out?

A new release is out. 0.9.16. I downloaded it today and finally got it working (and it's good). Delete the AvantGo Launcher and the previous version of AvantGo and try going to

m.avantgo.com/create

and actually creating a new account there. Neither of the previous accounts I had setup on the website work on the bb. Also, I am using t-mobile USA and had to change the Synchronization settings to BIS-B.

alright...i just downloaded the latest and greatest and am getting this error:

"An error occurred during the synchronization process. Unexpected response from server"

I've set my options to BIS-B (I'm on TMO US, as well). Any ideas?

Did you also create a new account on the phone on the first launch? Whenever I would use accounts I started on the web it didn't work.

Actually when syncing right now I got that same response. Maybe there is something wrong on the server right now.

I have been trying to get the new BB AvantGo client to work to no avail. In stalled version 0.9.16, created new account during install, and try to sync and get the below errors depending on the transport type.

BES
"An error occurred during the synchronization process: Incorrect header received."

BIS-B
"An error occurred during the synchronization process: Unexpected response from server."

Direct
"An error occurred during the synchronization process: could not open tunnel - failed."

I have a 7105t on T-Mobile with the OS version 4.1.0.309. Eric, or anyone, got any ideas?

Thanks.

I installed the beta version on my BB8700g. It keeps refusing to sync (and provides errors)
