Are you going through a BES or BIS? If you are on BES with MDS active, then you don't need the internet APN. If you are on BIS then you need the internet APN as metrodon entered it. What are you guys on, BES or BIS? I am on BEs here in South Africa with MDS through the US and all works fine, just trying to help.

Normally I would agree, but I am getting tired of having a single view for my personal and company email. I like having a separate application to view my personal email.

One thing i like about this little neat gmail software is the "mark as spam" feature. I cant do that on BIS without login on to web gmail. Now i get even more less spam on my BB. I would say this is a must have little software for bb users who are on BIS and using gmail

Question New Gmail App?

I down loaded the new Gmail app. which is very easy to check. The only problems I have had so far is 1. In Gmail Mobile I cant veiw my contacts 2. Gmail says you can veiw attachments including pictures but when i opened an attachment that had a pic it would not show. I cant see that you could view pics on a basic phone and not a BB. I must know................

Its a great app. The only minus at the moment is that you have to click on "refresh" in order to see new mail. I understand its never going to be "push" email, but just loading the app should trigger a new check for email...

On my 8707 I'm on a corporate BES server and maps has always worked just no gmail mobile.
on the 7290 on O2 it was not attached to any BES/BIS server just stand alone on GPRS and it did not work on that either. The same sim card works fine in a Nokia 6230 with gmail mobile.
Does anyone know if O2/Vodafone tweak the software downloads for the BlackBerry?

I second that. It's a bit annoying, but at least you can read the email in html format which is a nice change from all text.

The gmail java app at gmail.com/app is excellent! Thanks for the tip.

It's actually a huge improvement over browsing there by web. It works for me personally because gmail is my #4 email account and I have no desire to poll it on my Blackberry.

Holy Blackberry Upgrade, Batman! The Google Maps app is awesome.

I really like how you can zoom to a place and then switch to the satellite view and actually see the building that you are in. Pretty nifty stuff for the 8700.

(Now I'm really glad that I moved to the Rogers 200MB plan.)

Maybe I am missing something, but if you set up google mail as one of your mail accounts, everything is real time. At least, it is for me... and I can "push" mail as a reply to someone... Am I missing why this application is great for BB? I saw this as a "non blackberry" app...

I think you will find that it isn't auto-refreshing because you aren't actually exiting gmail. The escape key hides it in the background. (To verify this, click alt-scroll wheel: it will be sitting in your task list as active.) Next time try clicking the wheel, press "e" to go to "Exit Gmail" and hit enter. When you go back in, it will refresh.
