Question 8830 unlocked but doesn't work with email/web

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, pls can anyone help me? I've had my 8830 'unlocked' recently by an unlocking company but now it only works with my new O2 SIM card for voice/sms, I'm unable to use it for emails/web (although I have the service pre-paid).
02 tald me that in order for the BB to work fully, I need to re-register it with Blackberry 'registry' which means the original provider will need to 'unregister' the device first.
Could anyone advice me how to do this and whether requesting the unlock code from the original provider (Orange) would help?
Also, the company which had unlocked my BB told me (after I complained that the BB hasn't been unlocked for emails/web) that they could try to download a 'BB firmware' into the device and that it might help.
Please please anyone give me any kind of advice, I'm totally untouched by these things and do not know how to deal with this.
Many thanks
Meg

You say prepaid, do you mean pay and go? You will not get Blackberry Services on a pay and go sim card.

Your device may be correctly unlocked but your pay and go sim is not the correct one for BB services.

I hope i am not confusing you.

If you indeed have an o2 Blackberry Bolt on. Do you have an email settings icon on the device? if so, go there and set up your email, create a username and password too as this can be used to go to the o2email.co.uk website.

Hi, thanks but that's not my case, I'm on a regular contract, not pay&go

Hi, thanks, but it is in deed a secondhand device (originally on Orange-Romania!!), unblocked (at least the unblocking company calls it that way), it now accepts my O2 SIM, but I cannot access web/emails. O2 provider said (after checking the IMEI) that the blackberry is still registered with Orange and unless I re-register it, it wouldn't work with O2. Once I'll re-regiser it with O2 they can provide me with the email etc. But how do I de-register it with Orange???

If the PIN and IMEI is still in use, you need to either contact the seller and have them cancel their BIS account or try to convince your carrier to do it.

Check this link. Even thought you might not have bought the device on eBay, there is some good info here: Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ
