Default 8703e - cannot hear or talk anymore without headset?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I recently purchased a headset for my 8703e. I used it a couple times and it worked fine.

Last night I was unable to take an incoming call from my boyfriend, I answered and heard dead silence, said hello, hello, hello...no answer. He called again, same thing. I called him back and I was unable to even get a connected tone or anything, no ringing, nothing. This went on for several minutes, I calling him and he calling me back.

I decided to put my headset in and see if it'll work. With the headset I was able to answer his call, no dead silence. I was also able to make calls. I unplugged headset again and nothing...cannot hear/talk.

Does anyone know what is causing this? Like I said, I was able to use the headset a couple days this week and unplugged it from BB and did not have this problem. I tried taking battery out and setting it in again..and doesn't do anything.

Now I can only talk and make calls if I have headset plugged in.

HELP!

Default Same Issue

Help, I have no idea what caused this or how to cure it. It just happened today. I've removed the battery and rebooted my bb (8703) numerous times with no affect. Works like a charm with headset but useless(phone wise) without it. Anyone have any ideas?

Hmmm....so you have same issue. I honestly don't know what to do with it. Like you said, works like a charm with headset but without headset...you can't use it for talking...calling.

Please if anyone knows anything do share!

Also, my boyfriend suggested I return it to Sprint. Does anyone know if issues like this is under warranty? I've only had it for 2 months!

I had this problem. Obviously, the device thinks a headset is plugged in regardless if there is one plugged in. The device needs to be fixed or replaced.

There's nothing wrong with the headset. If this is what I think it is, here's the solution...

In the phone system, while you are on the call, simply go to the menu and activate what you want. There are options that allow you to activate speakerphone, the headset and handfree. Simply select what you want to use and activate it.

I hope this helps.

But there is something wrong with the Blackberry. As soon as you unplug the headset the handset should work.

I've seen this before with other devices (Treo's mostly). Usually if you plug and unplug a headset back in a few times (be a little aggressive), it will untrigger (not a word, I know) the mechanism that makes the devices think a headset is plugged in.

I think your resolution is to get a replacement because it appears to be a defective unit.

Cheers,
