Default Opera vs. BB Browser

Please Login to Remove!

For those of you that use the Opera browser for your BB, how is it compared to the built in BB Browser? What are the differences/comparisons? Thanks.

Opera is a much more configurable app, some secure banking websites like it better and some sites present themselves better on OM.

All that said, I use the BB Browser 95% of the time. It is quicker to open and easier to use for simple webpages. Also, so many apps that call up the browser (like Beyond411, etc., ) pull the stock browser.

Plus to type in passwords and so forth, you can type it in right there on the bb browser. In opera, you're taken to a blank page to enter you info. Also, to download ota......bb browser is always used. That's what swayed me from opera back to the bb browser.

only problem on opera is that if you go picture heavy websites, opera starts to lag real bad

One big plus of Opera Mini is that it pre-processes data requests remotely and only sends what your phone's screen can properly render. This saves time and, unless you're on an unlimited data plan, money.

Pity you can't select OM as your default browser so you can open the app straight from a link in a message. At present you have to open the app manually then copy/paste.

Thumbs up

I like Opera-mini and BB Browser for differet things... Prety much everything has already been said. The OM does lag, for instance, if you go to My Space... but it gets you there super fast. Mosty I still use Browser... it's what I've gotten use to and know over the years. HAving both is a nice option.

Same here, each has its plus and minus. Lots of OTA seems to direct towards the browser. OM is great for certain sites, so why not use the power of both.
