Default BlackBerry 8830 Now using SD card?

Please Login to Remove!

When I first got my BlackBerry 8830, I was disappointed to discover that it didn't use the 4GB card I put in it to store emails or text messages. I was running into a problem of filling my phone with emails and texts on a weekly basis. If i went into the Status screen, it showed my BB being nearly full all of the time, requiring me to reset it or mass-delete emails often.

Now a few months later, I've noticed that I have hundred of emails, and thousands of texts on it. So I looked at the Status screen again, and now it says I have 3.7GB available.

Did BB quietly issue a software update to my phone allowing it to store emails and texts on the SD card?

Thanks

There are two different places to check free space:

Options > Status which is your device memory. Email, SMS, ETC

and

Options > Media Card which is your SDcard

Totally different items.

Any reason that it can suddenly hold thousands of texts when before it only held a few hundred?

The memory that is taken up by a few hundred vs a few thousand is relatively small. Could be you reset more often, Have removed a third party application or followed John Clarks Memory Guide.

Wirelessly posted (7250)

No software update has been pushed down wirelessly. And messages are not stored on the micro SD card.
