I actually have two questions, my buddy has a phone that he can speak to like for instance he can ask it what's the distance to the moon and it will google it and popup answers. He can also tell he to navigate home and a map will start giving him directions. He also does audio messages instead of text. Anything close to that on a BB yet?

I lost my phone today so have to replace it, I've been with BB for a long time and don't see any reason to change. How's the 9900? Any pro's or Con's? Any better models I should consider?

Ok, more than two questions...

I have heard mostly good things about the 9900. Add Vlingo and you have a good voice-activated search function.

Any idea if this has been resolved?

In January 2012 AndroidPit discovered that Vlingo sends packets of information containing the users GPS co-ordinates, IMEI (unique device identifier), contact list and the title of every song stored on the device back to Nuance without proper warning in the privacy policy. Users of Vlingo have also found the program sending data to servers at the dhs.gov domain name. [3] [4] [5] [6]

Anything on when it'll release on TMobile? The guesses are all over the place on google with most saying it was to be released in 2012.

Funny story, I was just looking at BBProtect site and remembered I turned off the location tracking cuz I didn't want big brother tracking my phone. I sure wished I would have given that better thought since I could sure use that feature now.

No idea when T-Mobile will have it. Hopefully not too long after the January announcement.

Did you have a backup device? If I were in your shoes I would find a way to get by and wait it out for BB10. Maybe borrow a device, or buy something used and cheap for the time being if you didn't have a backup.

Yes, I had a samsung pre-paid that I use during these times since I can just stick a SIM card in it then activate it to the account. I think I got this one at Walmart several years ago for $10 and it still had the SIM since until now I've only used it for broken phones and not lost.

I went with the 9900 since I needed something now. I was very disappointed to see that the browser is still useless for me since I can't see any pages without zomming them out and who wants to move a webpage back and forth to read it. I don't know why they took away the column view but BB sure broke an otherwise god device when they did.

I can't get this vlingo to work. I speak into the phone and nothing happens. It's late so I guess I'll look at it another day.

Soapm, use double tap to zoom in or out where you want on the page. On text, the browser will zoom, center, and alter the line wrapping (usually). Scroll and tap tap as necessary. I liked column view, too, but this isn't bad once you get the hang of it.

Nice, thanks for the tip. I will have to learn to scroll strait but that does make the page viewable to these old eyes. I set the font size to 20 but have yet to see what that changed.

I had to play with the font settings, but what you find works best for one site won't be universally good. I had to pick what works best for the sites I use most often. And the double tap doesn't work on some sites. You may have to live with too large or smaller font on some sites.

Another trick is to click the print view if the regular web page is too hard to navigate and read.

Also, in case it wasn't obvious, if you've zoomed in on a paragraph and your are reading and scrooling down, and you see the text below shifts left or right releative to the paragraph you are on, when you get down to the shifted text, double tap on the top lines of the column of text. The browser will zoom and center again, and move the top lines where you tapped to the top of the screen.

Once you start doing it, you'll discover other little tricks.

Another thought. You don't really need to scroll in many cases when reading. When you are done reading what is on the screen, tap the lines at the bottom of the screen, and the text will be scrolled up so your next lines to read will start at the top of the screen.

You can scroll with the trackpad if you want, or swipe the screen, or do the double tap as described. It is cool.
