This may sound pretty dumb, but I know very little about wifi, what exactly is it, how does it work, & what do I have to do to login/use an at&t hotspot? I'm totally not a technical person & I'm pretty illiterate as far as internet stuff goes!
Wifi is wireless local area network. To use it with a blackberry, the blackberry must have wifi capability.
If the hotspot serive is not free of charge, you will need to register with the service, pay the fee, etc. If the serice is provided by your carrier, then contact your carrier; otherwise contact the service provider.
There are many "free" hotspots. The wifi enabled blackberry will tell you the available networks it detects. Sometimes, such as hotels, you may need to get login info from the desk.
By the way, if you have a wifi capable blackberry, find the wifi setup wizard, click on it and look around. You'll see the button to scan for available networks. If you are in a hotel, airport, or even on a city street you will likely see a number of them (not necessarily free, or public though).
