Default Sprint's Poor Customer Service

Please Login to Remove!

I left Nextel after 8 years because I finally got tired of poor reception (Philadelphia). It would anger me because it just never worked.

I was on the contract still - the only option was to go to Sprint. I'm treated like a brand new customer, which is sad, but subjective, and then their customer service is very poor. The folks are very nice but neither knows what the other is doing. I have made 3 calls to them in the past week to solve simple issues, and each time the call lasted over 90 minutes.

The last call was the worst. I was transferred 11 times. 11 times!!!!!!!!!! Every person told me that it wasn't their department, and each new person knew nothing of the previous transaction. As soon as I got part of the transaction finished, I would be sent to the next person who could not help me. It is totally unreal and I was ready to just break the contract and leave until I found one person who would help me. I don't want to break the contract and pay the fees but wtf? I'm so easy to get along with but these companies make me crazy!!!

I know this may be the wrong forum but I have an 8703e so we'll just make it work.

Default Been there!

I know exactly how you feel. I had Sprint for almost two years.
I had no problems with them for most of that time, but I moved and that's when my problems started.

Turns out I didn't have Sprint coverage in the area I moved to. I didn't mind it at first because I rarely made calls or received call in my neighborhood.

Then I bought my first BB the 8703e. I decided to call them to find why I am having these problems and that's when they tell me they don't have service in my area.

But why was I able to purchase the BB if they knew (and they should have) that I didn't have service in my area?

Then I played phone tag with them. Very sad. Transferred many, many times.

I am waiting for my "return kit" to send back the BB to tele-sales.

When that will arrive, god knows!

I am now with Cingular, and so far, so good.

Supposedly I won't have to pay the $200 termination fee because I should never have been allowed to purchase the phone from them.

I wish you luck.

LOL... Ya the sprint transfer blues... Had Sprint for a few years myself and canned em... Every month I spent hours on the phone because my bill was jacked. It got fixed after upteen transfers and a few hours... Then the next month they would adjust my bill to correct what i had just spent 2 hours and several transfers getting fixed...... Call back again, same story, different transfers....

I feel the pain!

It is sad. And the worst part is every now and then when I really get poor customer service I'll complain about it (in a polite way) and it seems like I'm just wasting my time.

Even the managers don't care!!

Unreal.

What kinda problems are you having? I own a Sprint/Nextel ASC and have very little faith in customer service. Send me a PM and most likely I can figure out what they did wrong could be several things.

Did you sign up with sprint over the phone (I'm assumung you did). And you kept your nextel number correct? Is your old nextel line cut off yet, and is the 8703 working at all? Let me guess, phone calls yes, but no data, no EV in the top right corner just 1x.

It was mostly invoice and exchange related. I had to exchange two of the 3 phones on the account, but I had problems with everything from number transfer to even understanding some of the dialects. I do want to be clear that the people were pleasant; it's the communication that is entirely lagging. I was also told that return kits would be sent, then was transferred to another person who didn't know what return kits were. Also, each contact quoted different rates for phones, some knew of certain deals and others did not, my name was completely mispronounced several times (I have an easy last name) - which wasn't insulting, it just made me realize that they weren't reading or taking the time to thoroughly make an effort. It got to the point whereas when I finally found a good guy to help me, I insisted that he stay on the line while I contacted shipping for the 3rd time.

I guess the worst part was that I could just tell that if I was a relative or knew the CSR, this could all be alleviated in probably 15 minutes. It seems to be a matter of entering information and following through.

Blah. It just makes me hope that I can solve everything on the user end.

Thanks for the insight everyone.

I hear you on that I had Sprint and had nothing but problems so I went to Nextel and didnt have any problems at all untill sprint bought nextel and then had the same problems with nextel as I did sprint. I switch to Tmobile and have had no problems with them at all and all my friends on sprint are now switching to tmobile

I was really counting on Sprint to be the savior in getting me away from Nextel. It was either drop $600 and break away, or give Sprint a chance for 2 years. I talked to many Sprint/Nextel reps in stores, and each and every one advised me to just leave Nextel and go to Sprint. I knew that Nextel's towers were overcrowded with corporate accounts and the Police/Fire/EMS network, so it only seemed logical to give Sprint a try.

Now I have great reception and poor customer service, when I used to have poor reception and direct connect. I'm an economist and heavily into philosophy, so I'm waiting for the day we will all overthrow the cellular oligopolies and have technological socialism. If we all banded together, we really could make changes.

Maybe I should just play video games. I can dream though, right?
