Hello!

I switched from the Torch 9800 to the Q10 a few days ago and googled how to best switch.

At first I tried using Link, even though it's for 10 phones, I read it's still possible to transfer data from an older OS and it seemed to work fine, aside of the text messages. They seemed to be there, in appropriate order, but when I clicked on the conversations, they were all empty. (I also waited a day, since I read it can take a few hours for everything to show up).

Then (after browsing this and Crackberry forums) I tried a mixture of Desktop and Link: I backed up my Torch via Desktop, then I opened Link, connected the Q10 and restored it by using that Back-up file that was created via Desktop. Once again, the text messages seemed to be there (all the names were there, but when I clicked on them, the conversations were empty. Once again I waited a day).

Upon further googling I tried using Blackberry Protect - same problem.

I would really appreciate it if you had any helpful suggestions as to transferring my text messages.

looks like its a know issue. You may have to use a backup IPD. reader to view any messages you want.

I had read that, too, but since really none of my text messages transferred (opposed to others posting about 80% transferred) I thought I'd ask. Seems I had the worst case scenario transfer-wise.

Win some lose some. You might try a backup reader if you need to read any of the messages.
