well i havent tried it yet, but if you dont check your messages, theres an LED flash telling you that you got messages to check, and theres like a red mark over your inbox button on the home screen, AND theres the notifier in the top of the screen tell you how many messages there are.

edit - i just got a text actually lol so here goes

I have installed and using with success Pearl Alerts (ver 1.65) ... to my knowledge this is the replacement for BBAlerts. Here is a link to the Handango site.

Sorry, must not be able to add links.

I have been successfully using BBalerts on my storm for more than a month now. Works very well.

Peral alerts according to handango is only for the bb pearl.

I have the BBalerts that I carried over from my previous Pearl and it works fantastic. I just had to contact BBalerts to change the PIN and that is it. It works like charm. The only down side is you have to keep the program running. If you close the program then it will not work.

Wirelessly posted (VZW Storm, ATT Bold)

I also have it ported it from my 8830
If you have it previously it easy to move to the storm and
It works like a charm. I love this app
From the various led colors to the reminders when I miss a call or important email

i have been using it on my storm since day 1 ;) ... you need to disable compatibility mode first. i don't use idle blink -- i used it briefly when i had it on my Pearl, but it got annoying pretty quickly. here's what i use in the options:

Audio type: Profile
Alert Repeat Frequency: Never
Color Scheme: User assigned

for the notify checkboxes, I have all checked EXCEPT "Filter Emails" and "Notify on VoiceMail". "Notify on VoiceMail" works fine for me, but I use YouMail/vyMail now, so I don't need that option anymore.

Idle Alert: Disabled
Vibrate on Alert: NOT checked
Program controls LED: Both
Ignore Unknown Callers: NOT checked
Popup on notification: NOT checked
Enable Alert Logging: NOT checked
Ignore SMS Intended for Applications: CHECKED

For Assign Colors, I left most of the colors default... I set LED flash on to 0.2 seconds and LED flash off to 3 seconds. Everything else here are the defaults.

Let me know if you have any more questions

I like to have idle alert on so i can visual see if i have messages but when iget a voice mail it always blinks the color of the idle alert and i tried disable it once like you have and it was blinking colors for messages but once i got a voice mail it stopped all the blinking lights? Is there something else that needs to be done outside the bb alert options?Im on trial version do i have to register/ also my sms/mms are seperate in the options do i need to make them combined? Also when you were using idle alert did you have it set as led display or coverage indicador?

Idle alert doesn't have anything to do with whether or not you have messages... When idle alert is enabled, your phone blinks non-stop to let you know it's turned on (or that you have coverage if you have it set to coverage indicator). When you get other alerts (emails, calls, etc.), it should override the idle color and blink whatever color you have those alerts set to in the "Assign Colors".

I believe the trial is full-featured during the trial period, so it should function just fine until then. I do have all my messages combined instead of separate, but I don't think that matters. Which version of BBAlerts are you using?

i just download trial yesterday so i have newest one--But here is my problem it will blink the different colors for missed calls and emails but when i get a voice mail instead of blinking the color i have assigned for it---it blinks the idle alert color-so it would appear that i dont have any messages--on mels-the vendor support page-- he says if your having problems with voice mail make sure your phone number is on the sim card under options? is your your phone number there when you check options then simcard

i just removed my sim card earlier today to see if it helps with my random rebooting problems... and the reason i asked which version you had is because if you downloaded from handango, i think they still have a really old version on their site. version 1.65 is what you should have. i'd try it without the idle alert and see if you still have problems...

besides, why not just look for the missed call LED color and then check your phone to see if you have new voicemail?

I did download from hand go--and the problem is i cant go by the blinking led cause if i have missed emails and calls it will blink like it supposed to put once i get a voice mail it will blink to the idle color and thats it so it would appear that i have no missed calls or messages and when i tried once with idle alert off once i got a voice mail the light stopped blinking all together

don't know... i never had that problem. you should probably disable the voicemail alert so that receiving voicemail doesn't stop the other alerts... only thing i can tell you is to try to seek help from the developer. i do remember a warning in the program when you enable voicemail alerts that says it may not be able to detect voicemails. it always worked fine for me, but if the developer put that warning in there, there's gotta be a reason (i.e. it must be a pretty common problem).
