Curious as to how to restore BB mesenger contact list when you migrate devices. Rogers says it can't be done, I have restored successfully from a hard backup. Where is the contact list stored and why does it ask for a password (in case of loss of your contact list) when you first create the list if you can't simply restore from a BES? When I restore from a backup, my contacts see me as 2 different entries when I contact them from the new device, probably due to the new PIN thing...any thoughts anyone?

Since BB Messenger is tied to the PIN of the specific device you have, you can not simply restore the list. You have to re-add your contacts to request that they add you to thier list first. I am going to have the same issue with Nextel tomorrow when my 7100i gets replaces with a new device.

That really sucks...pita every time I have to change devices...much prefer the MSN Messenger IM Server based setup...so what happens when you use the Yahoo IM for BlackBerry? Does it also have the same issues or can you get around it because Yahoo is server based?

Yahoo and MSN are going to be much different since its based on their server and not your device. I restored my contact list thru a backup on my bbmess, they did are 2 however I don't have to remember each pin but rather just re invite from the list. pink

I tried sending a request to someone for them to be added to my buddy list but that option is not there anymore. where can I find it??
