Unhappy Pearl 8120 possible memory issue,at my wits end please help?

Please Login to Remove!

I've had a Pearl 8120 for 4 days.
It has twice wiped my call logs and SMS inbox. It's been suggested this may have been due to low memory.
I have only downloaded 2 applications (mobile betting accounts which my old Sony Ericsson w850i held about 5 off such applications).
People have suggested deleting stuff ,I deleted the Blackberry demo video but don't want to delete anything else.
I haven't changed any settings.
Another point is that I have about 7 , 20 second videos and and a few photos but I was told I had no memory to take more photos even though I have a barely touched 1 GB memory card.
The booklet I got with the phone is rudimentary to say the least.
How do I stop it wiping stuff?
I would have thought messages were saved to the sim card.
Also I was hoping to run a word processing application ,this seems like a forlorn hope.

I have a couple of days grace wherein I can send it back and get a different phone.
could you change my mind,please?

Look in Options >Status and post your file free.

Then pop out the battery and put it back in. Then do the following:

Problem solved:

Also, make sure any photos you take are being saved to the media card and move any photos you already have onto the media card.

Red face Thanks.

Thank you, I deleted a few things and removed the battery and have jumped from 0 free to 9379695 free.
Will that do me for a while?
Thanks for the link but I'm just not prepared to delve too deeply.
If I mess up I'll be stuck with a lemon.
I'm not a total dummy with phones etc but don't see why I should have to do any of this.
I'm really begining to think that this phone is not fit for purpose.
I could switch to a Curve but I wanted video capture (which sadly crashed as I used it for the first time at a once in a lifetime event of a giant mechanical spider!).
Or I may be able to swing a Bold off my provider.
I want to be able to install a word processing application.
Any ideas please?

Obviously, 0 bytes is bad. However 9Mb still isn't enough to not have the problem again.

Just follow my instructions and life with the 8120 will be good.

Also, the Curve has video recording with OS 4.5.

If you load OS 4.5 on your 8120 you will get the Documents To Go application which gives you the Word, PowerPoint and Excel applications

Yup. Shoot for around 15Mb or more. If you follow the instructions you should be able to achieve that goal quite easily.

Thanks all.

Where would be the best place to get the 4.5 os please?
I spoke to my service provider and they didn't have any links.

Look at the sticky at the top of the device specific forum: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...languages.html

Good luck
