Thanks for the feedback hawk37... this is a rounding problem that I will fix in the next release of GPSLogger. The xx.100 is for sure not correct (display only) - the values used for any calculations are fine (you can check that by selecting in the options "use raw values")

GPSLogger release of v1.0
Over the past several months, I have considered significant user feedback as I added all of the essential features in order to make GPSLogger a usefull BlackBerry® offline GPS application. It is with these latest enhancements to the user interface for the Options that I proudly release GPSLogger version 1.0 to the BlackBerry® community. Hopefully, the reviewers and the community at large will agree.

What's New?
  • Options reorganized - on BlackBerry® devices it's quite common to separate the application options into various screens - this makes the options way more organized and easiert to understand.
  • Distance Signal - new 'Special Options' to specify 'Vibrate Time' and 'Audio Volume'
  • The specified 'Path directory' will be checked at each startup (if writeable) - if not the Options dialog will be opened
  • New General Option: 'Start in NightMode'
  • ...

What's Fixed?
  • Input fields for new location coordinates only accept numeric values
  • When in logging mode: a loaded location (via the LocationManager) will not be overwritten by the start location of your current path
  • ...

All changes can be found @ GPSLogger Changelog

Installation & Update
You will find the download link (incl. OTA) at the GPSLogger Homepage

Actually I just can recommend to all, that when you open a JAD via the browser (that you has installed previously) then you should always choose "refresh/reload" from the #Menu before you actually hit the install button.

It can happen, that your previous installation of GPSLogger does not will be replaced by the update - then please be so kind and delete the old version of GPSLogger via: Options - Extended Options - Applications

A quick review: I installed this version today on my 8100 running 4.5.0.124 and it freezes up on the compass and direction screens. It happened with a path loaded and without, though neither time I had the GPS puck connected. Tomorrow I might try it with the GPS puck...

after another code analysis I have another guess what could causing this problem on your device - would you mind to re-download a new Version (1.7.0.1) and let me know, if this fix the hang ups/freeze on your device?

TIA

I *think* 1.6.5 was ok, but I'm pretty sure 1.6 was...

...but no matter because 1.7.0.1 fixes the problem.

I just looked at the changelog for 1.7.0.1. Sniff, my 8100 is an older device now

Thanks,
Joachim

Sorry...I spoke too soon.

It still freezes if a path is loaded, but it's ok if a path is not loaded.

Default Verizon 8330 and GPS puck?

From what I have been able to find, it looks like Verizon has crippled GPS on the 8330 Curve. So, it will not work with GPSLogger.

Would it work with GPSLogger, and possibly other programs using gps if I got one of the bluetooth gps pucks I see being referred to?

If so, suggestions for Brands, models, best place to buy (cheapest price), etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Chris.

2009/08/28 - GPSLogger minor update to v1.7.1(xxx946;)
+ The perfect pair for outdoor navigation: GPSiesConnect & GPSLogger

What's Fixed?
  • My apologize - never use WHILE statements when you are not sure, if the condition ever can become false - I have put that in my pipe and smoked it - the freezes had nothing to do with "older devices" or anything like that. The problem occurred in unlucky combinations of default device font settings and the GPSLogger font selection.
I have corrected the code and thanks to the help of Joachim the problem is fixed now.
  • Logger does not stop logging anymore when distance signal is used (was reported by users in the forum)

All changes can be found @ GPSLogger Changelog

Installation & Update
You will find the download link (incl. OTA) at the GPSLogger Homepage
