Default Vodafone today theme is almost perfect

Please Login to Remove!

I love the idea of today themes, and the Zen theme was not quite there yet. I tried the Blackberry.alx hack and got all the phones default themes enabled. Here is a brief review of the Vodafone today theme.

Today screen is split up like so:
* Voicemail (1 line)
* Call Log (2 lines)
* Email (2 lines)
* SMS/MMS (2 lines)
* Calendar (3 lines)

All the icons are very high quality!

There are two separate folders for Email and SMS/MMS, they are not mixed together. While one can use Alt-S to filter SMS messages (in Messages mode), this does not place MMS/SMS together. And its nice to be able to switch back and forth between the two.

SMS and Email also have separate indicator icons, which is very nice.

There is a space between the operator and the start of the today menus. I am not sure what this is used for.

In the Zen today theme you are able to scroll horizontally to select other profiles. You are not able to do this in Vodafone Today theme.

Bugs/caveats:
* When on the today theme and using the application switcher, the icons start to redraw over one another and its almost impossible to see which application you are switching to. :(
* The , key in SMS/MMS or Email views will only bring up a new email. In the other themes it pulls up an address book view so you can SMS or email.
* Email header on today screen does not change to white when you hilight it.

Datafirm, what device do you have? I use the vodafone today theme, but I only have 1 line for email, 1 line for SMS/MMS and 2 lines for Calendar. I have a 7130c.

I hated that ghost sms issue on my 8700r. Even if I pulled the battery out I'd get the ghost sms when someone else sent me a text message. I'm planning on adding the modified .alx file to my BlackBerry later on today after work. I'm hoping I won't have frequent ghost sms messages on my 8100.

I was just referring to the total lines each section takes up. Yours and mine are the same.

You can use bootcamp if you have an Intel machine.

Howdy y'all.

With regards to the ghost SMS bug in the Vodafone Today theme ... I don't know if this has been covered elsewhere on the forums (and forgive me for reposting if it has), but I found a way (at least with the Bharti version) to make the ghost SMS disappear: selecting 'Mark Prior Opened' from the very top of the SMS/MMS list. I've tried it about three times over as many days and it seems to work consistently.

Still haven't figured out a pattern as to the trigger, though.
