Blackberry Newbie - First Impressions
I'm new to Blackberry. Although I've used the Palm OS in the past, I've recently been primarily using a Sony laptop with built-in Cingular EDGE access. I just received my Verizon 8703e two days ago. I got it to replace/upgrade the Cingular connection, which was data only - no phone. After getting it set-up and trying it out, I notice a significant speed improvement when using it as a tethered modem on my laptop. Compared to the Cingular EDGE service, Verizon's EVDO is much faster, here in Birmingham, Alabama, where Verizon upgraded to EVDO just three weeks ago. Given the on-the-go e-mail capabilities, the phone capabilities, and the similarity of the BB OS to the old Palm OS, which I liked, I'm very glad I changed. I consider my switch to the Verizon 8703e to be an upgrade, not a lateral move.

Try dialing *228 and let the PRL update. This may help.

Nothing will come close the the E815, that and its predecessor, the v710 are the BEST performing phones with respect to signal..

Hit the send button to get to the call log, click the track wheel in, goto Options > Call Logging and choose None.

BlackBerry owners lounge
I tried to sign up in the BlackBerry owner's lounge on the RIM site, and it asks me to enter my IMEI. I can't find this number on the 8703e (in the battery compartment or within Options-Status. I thought my ECN might work, but it is not enough digits. Does anyone know where I can find the IMEI? Thanks

It seems to wiegh a couple grams more then the GSM's. Nice phone, but the Verizon theme is crap, changed that first.
