...do people think they can get away with calling someone stupid by prefacing the statement with "no offense?".

"Honestly, no offense to you (kalamaca), but why would someone be so stupid to post a thread like this?

...closing thread."

Is RIM indeed initiating the leaks? And why the aggressive reaction here? Can we not even speculate on where the beta leaks are coming from and why?

Clearly they would have to be coming from someone either at RIM or associated with them - where else would they be coming from, so why is it worth talking about? There might be many sources, but there's only one obvious starting point.

And if you are going to say "people" and then use a specific quote, you might as well just put the name of who said it in there, too. Keeps you from looking like less of a tool, unless that's what you were going for. But no offense

RIM has not been the direct source for any of the major leaks you have seen on BitTorrent and RapidShare sites (where the majority of people on here get them). It could be argued that they are the indirect source, as all software downloads have come from them in some form or fashion, however the actual leaking of it to the internet comes through a middle party (with few exceptions (namely two releases and a vulnerability in BBU), this has been the carriers). I hope that clears up the question in both threads.

I trust the person who made the post is not an idiot, however the question contained within that post was very much of the sort. Perhaps it was just a temporary lapse in judgement, hence the no offense to them as a person.
