1- for the gibberish messages, look here:
I keep getting odd emails from RIM - BlackBerryFAQ.com

2- the reason you are receiving his messages is that you likely still have his "service Books" in your old BB... look at Options > Advanced > Service Books. Find those email accounts with the @ symbol, and press menu to delete.

Pull the battery on your BB and reboot it. Should do it, as long as he he registered his new PIN on his account with his carrier.

I had that problem on Monday trying to register my brand new 8800. In the end T-Mobile's BB Support group had to switch my BB devices.

Edit : Maybe, your fathers details are still associated with that particular BB.

Ok we figured it out the reason i was getting the messages was becuase my fathers phone was using same pin as mine had. so he had the problem with the messages which he fixed. then at&t flashed the phone and finally came back on after a long a dreadful wait of thinking the phone was gone. and pin was reset allowing me to recreat a blackberry account guess that solves my problems thanks for the help sanders.

Two Blackberrys cannot have the same PIN. The PIN is hard coded into the device at the factory and can't changed.

It sounds like both PINs somehow got registered on the on the BIS.

Whatever the cause, good thing they are both workijng.
