Default Is Bold 2 same form factor as 8900?

Please Login to Remove!

I received my seidio spring clip today for my 9700. It is great...

on the back it says

89.97xxx for the model.

are these two models super similar to each other?

The reason i ask is because i need to a device holder from proclip for my 9700, but they don't have one yet. Is it possible that if i buy the 8900 mount, my 9700 will fit as well?

thanks

Yes and no.

Devices are essentially the same size, but USB plug and some buttons are in different places.

8900 9700
Length 4.29"/109mm 4.29"/109mm
Width 2.36"/60mm 2.36"/60mm
Depth 0.53"/13.5mm 0.56"/14.10mm
Weight 3.87oz/109.9g 4.30oz/122g

Length and Width are identical; 9700 is a bit thicker and heavier.

The unknown is where the magnetic switch is on each for holster mode...

NJ, it appears to be the same location (wherever that may be). At least, I can base that on my highly scientific observations when using my new Seidio holster for the 9700... which is also for the 8900.

That is better than scientific - that's real life experience.

I liked the holster than came with my 9700 and haven't tried anything else, but it sounds like the 8900 holsters/clips will work with the 9700...

The case that comes with the 9700 isn't too bad, but I have always bought the Seidio rubberized holsters for the phones I buy, and so I swear by them.

Seidio is funny sometimes, though... they indicate that the holster for the 9700 is being developed, and when it finally comes out, it is the holster for the 8900 rebadged for the 8900/9700. That's fine, of course, but they don't need to pretend that there was some significant effort that went into making these things!

so the question remains... will the depth have enough of an impact for proclip not to work from 8900?

The proclip for the 8900 works...sort of. I found that it bumps the camera button anytime I insert the phone. The work around would be to disable the button but that would be too annoying for me.

My double USB port cigarette lighter charger doesn't work righ either.

Yep, same size and resolution between the 8900 and 9700.
