Question Successful Unlocked Storm 2 software conversion to ATT service/books ?

Please Login to Remove!

Ok - so who has successfully bought an unlocked Storm 2 and converted entire os to ATT including service books AND running smoothly?

I want to upgrade my Bold 9000 and the 9700's screen is turning me off!

I will jump to Storm 2 if folks have good luck changing over to ATT service.

Please feel free to give further input on the process.

Thanks!

I unlocked a VZ storm2 and put it on ATT, with the service books, and don't have too many issues. Only one I can think of is that sometimes the browser disappears and I have to re-install the service books. Not a big deal yet though.

js8229... Hi, when you unlocked it, which method you used (where did you buy the unlocking code) and do you have full 3G data speed or just EDGE?

Thanks

I used uniquephones.com, and I just get Edge. 3G isn't available on my 9550 due to the difference in frequencies it supports versus what ATT uses. I do have wifi though since I have a 9550, so I'm okay with just Edge while mobile.

Fred, it works, same as having done the same with the 9530. The same process outlined in the Sticky Thread in this 9500 section works.

The best alternative is using the 9520, it is a GSM device to begin with.

Yeah Im told that a lot... but Ill be going to the US in January and I dont think I can find a better deal of a 9520 over the 9550 from verizon...

My plan so far is to get the 2X1 9550 then pass one of the contract to another person (previously contacted) and then when I get back to my country I either cancel my 2 year contract or pass it to somebody else (for less than what I would have to pay)... Then I can sell the 2nd Blackberry over here for about 6 times its value and even make a profit of all this...

The down side... is that I will be losing the 3G capabilities of the phone...

so have people been missing 3G with the unlocked 9550 on ATT?

I have the Bold 9000 now with 3G and would hate to cut mobile speed down that much.

Is edge on the 9550 still ok for browsing and emails?

I have an unlocked on AT&T 9550. It works fine until you have to do a battery pull then you have to resend the service books, which sucks. I hope someone comes up with a fix soon. I actually sold mine because of this but just purchased another cause I really do like the phone. Have even thought of porting my number but just don't want to at this time. So is this a non issue on the 9520?
