Physically it is suppose to resemble the Blackberry 7280 but will be enhanced with features such as Bluetooth, 32MB Ram, Screen update (I Hope) amongst other tweaks and updates.

Do you know when it will come out and which carrier will use it?

My best guess would be before x-mas, I would imagine the GSM carriers will see it first ATT/Cingular/TMo/Rogers as to whom will deploy first no idea there...

I'm pretty sure Cingular is the first to get it, and from what my RIM rep let me in on the other day, should be around Oct. 1 release date

Any idea on the price? Do you think it will cost a lot more then the current 7200 series?

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say maybe $50-100 more than the 7280... so maybe around $400-450 or so brand new, knock $100-150 or so off if you get it with a new service plan.

I guess, I would agree. I was really hoping it was going to come in at the same price as the 7230 and they where going to knock the prices down on the old bluetooth ones. I think blackberrys are awesome, but a little pricey still with out a contract.

Wonder how hard it is going to find one of these when they first come out. I reallly do miss having a bluetooth headset or a bluetooth speakerphone for the car.

They are knocking the old prices down. I though I saw TMO offering the 6230's for like $99 nowadays...

Probably they are trying to run down their 6230 stock so they can stop selling that model altogether, with the 7290 on the way you would have the 7230 as the standard model, 7290 as the next level up and then off to the sides you have the mainstream phone model in the 7100 and also the niche model 7730, more than enough of a range especially if you lot start to get the blackberry connect devices as well at some point.

I'm willing to bet they'd rather have the 6730 replace the 6230...

Ignoring the obvious point of 6730 not existing, why would that be a better replacement at the low end than a 7230?

Hey, I was just going to say that. He probably meant 6710.

6710 I meant... just because working somewhere where they buy hundreds of these things at a time, even $50 more per unit can add up. If I were forced to have a monochrome BB, I'd rather it be the larger one...

Fair enough, i'd personally prefer a triband usb device even though the screen was smaller, especially as my laptop doesn't even have a serial port.

Default Prices

The price for a 7290 is $399.00 with no commit.

With a 2 year signup, the cost is 149.00 (you must send in the rebate).

I just got mine today!

Default First impressions of the 7290?

I'm heading to the Cingular store this weekend to check if they have the 7290, and I'd like to know your first impressions of the BB. Many, many thanks.

Try the General Discussion Thread, the 7290 is now available so no need to post here.
