I get this SMS whenever I pull battery and power my Blackberry on, how do I stop this from happening? I have the AT&T Blackberry 9700, is this connected to visual voicemail (that I am not using?)
Although it's unconfirmed, I have heard from several sources that this message is from AT&T and appears on unlocked phones when they do an IMEI scan and don't recognize your phone. They're attempting to gather relevant info on you but the process breaks down when they don't recognize your device due to the fact that it came from another carrier originally and the IMEI is not in their data base.
Recall that AT&T instituted the policy of adding a data plan to your account if you don't have one but you're using a phone that requires it.
Damn I'm just curious how do you guys be knowing so much info? Do you work for phone carriers or is it from experience?? Kudos to you all haha. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
No confirmed solutions. What works for some fails for others. Sometimes updating the BlackBerry OS cures it. Kind of a big proceedure for the errant text message, but if it really bugs you it may be worth the 45 minutes to update.
Interesting I went from a 9700 to a 9800 using Desktop Manager so I obviously transfered over old SMS and emails... and the silly error 11216 shows after a reboot!
The phone is AT&T and not unlocked, any idea how to delete this string?
Just did that to newst, updated to 695 and it's still there. Any connection potentially to a request to activate visual voicemail which I don't subscribe to?
I think it has something to do with what Rambo said and trying to register with the network. I eventually sold my Tmobile 9700 and just got a ATT one. I never figured out how to get rid of it sorry. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
I am having the same problem! bugging the s out of me. I do have att phone but ported numbers into att. Both my wife's and mine do this. I updated OS to .892, hers is the original. Did not have visual vm at first, added it, not it still doesn't work.
How do you resend the service books with att phones?
