Not a true beta, but someone put together a hybrid OS using the OS 6 files off of the 9800 clamshell

I downloaded the 9700 files but haven't gotten around to installing it yet. Just wondering if anyone else installed it or had any experience with it.

I installed it, going good so far. Boots FAST! Dont be too excited about it an NOT do a backup before you wipe and have to restore from a 60 day old backup file!

Been using it for over a week now on my 9000. Very stable and fast. Only problem is no VVM with ATT. Old fixes for VVM will not work. Next release is supposed to fix it.

LinuxKnight, can you go to the following web page with the new OS6 browser and let me know what it is showing for HTML5 compatibility.

Specifically, I am interested in the Storage section on the "Web SQL Database". iPhone, Palm WebOS, and Android devices have this and it is great for offline data storage in web applications. I'm hoping the new OS6 for Blackberry will support it too!

In native it scores a 1 out of 1 with no bonus points. If I open in bolt I get a 93, but the Web SQL tests show NO. Hope this helps.

Apparently since this hybrid only uses 20 of the OS6 files, it is hardly useful and there will be very minimal if any changes/improvements.

This is really quite an interesting hybrid: files from .732, .743, .758, and 6.0.0.31. I believe most of the browser files are from .732. The creator's thread references the webkit browser being activated via service book, so it is not functional in the hybrid.

That said, the browser performs very well. I took the plunge and installed this OS and I'm pretty pleased so far. Things appear to be stable and speedy, and all my 3rd party apps work fine.

Very fast..not much difference yet. He said he only added about 20 files from v6 to this first build. He has 60 more or so that he knows work and will spoon feed them to it in the future.
