Question frustrated N00b with this BB

Please Login to Remove!

I have just switched over for a change from HTC Android scene and got a blackberry 9700 bold and having no joy with it at all.

I will start by mentioning it was my daughters and she was on o2 uk network and I'm on three uk network so i got the BB unlocked and erased all data on the BB before using.

The problem I have is the following:

I can't connect too Twitter or Facebook even on wifi or 3G connection but i can access the internet on either wireless or my data plan.

The wireless radio signal seems pretty poor in comparison to my HTC Hero which never looses the reception.

I cant find a way too add my gmail email and calendar details

I would appreciate the help and I have searched all over google and this forums with no luck

You need a BlackBerry Data Plan (or add on or bolt on) to use e-mail and many other BlackBerry functions.

It isn't a phone; it has a phone. And apparently it isn't the device that you need.

LOL, n00b doesn't know how to use a BlackBerry, doesn't know what OS version he has so we could help him out.

If you choose to go back to your Android we'll be more than happy :D

BB is for professionals, not for n00bs

Once you get it running, you will fall in love

Wow.
At least you didn't tell him to update the OS, which is your standard reply.

My kids have BlackBerrys. Not sure they match you list there Matrix.

Ok you're right, my bad.....

To the original poster.....before you start complaining about WiFi connectivity and signal quality......

do this.....

BEST OS in my experience, I tried them all and tested them. This give you the best round up of signal quality, speed, WiFi connectivity, fast picture browsing in the Media viewer, etc.

This OS has been released by ETISALAT (Dubai carrier) before , I just found the DU variant (another Dubai carrier) which is just as good and I thought of posting it as well:

Software Name: BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1149 (Multilanguage)
File Name: 9700M_PBr5.0.0_rel1149_PL5.1.0.160_A5.0.0.680_du.e xe
Download Size: 133.034 MB
Language: English
Published Date: 06/23/2010

DOWNLOAD

Instructions For Installation:

1) Install the *.exe file you just downloaded.

2) Navigate to Computer >>> C: >>> Program Files >>> Common Files >>> Research in Motion >>> Apploader

3) Delete the file named vendor.xml

4) Connect your BlackBerry 9700 through the USB port

5) Run loader.exe

6) Follow the on-screen instructions and enjoy.

Maybe that particular OS has somehow offered him a pay-per-click kickback or something......
