I was just talking to a friend and he said that the price was 449 or something like that. I do not understand this. I upgraded yesterday for 349 at noonish and by 6 pm when he tried the price was 100 more. so I checked and the price went up. What is tmobile's thought process here? if they allow the upgrade but it is 2 times as much as to just buy the phone with cingular, why would anyone stay and upgrade? if i didn't get it for the price i did i would have left over that one.... might be supply in demand but that is just wrong imo

I think different ppl get different prices because it all depends on where you are in your contract. If you aren't close to your contract end date, they'll charge you more for the upgrade. I ended up paying $469 for my upgrade =(

Tmobile upgrades are dependant on the time left in your current contract, and whether or not you are signing a 1 or 2 year contract. Unlike some of the carriers, you can upgrade and extend your contract any time with Tmobile. However, the discount you recieve on your phone does change depending on when in your contract you are. For instance, when i got my pearl, my contract was completely up with Tmobile, and with the credits they threw onto my account, i got it for $99 on a 2 year contract. When i got my 8800, I hadnt had my pearl for even a year yet, and since i decided to only extend my contract 1 additional year, it came to $469. Full price was $549. If i had gone with a 2 year, i would have recieved it for $399 plus a $50 mail in rebate.

JSanders - I notice you're silent on the now available upgrade-got the 8800 from T-Mo yet or switching to Cingular to get one?

I guess I just got called out!

Just silent on this thread--I am awaiting reply from TMo on the upgrade.

And not I'm not in a rush anyway, just sometime in the next couple of months. I really don't want to leave TMo. My wish is not to.

Thanks. Since I am not in a rush to upgrade or change services, I get a few more options, lol. I learned a long time ago about throwing babies out with the bath water.

Now I see that T-Mobile 8800 is available for existing Tmo customer to upgrade their phone. The price shows $469.99 for two years extension and $549.99 w/o any extension...sounds like a rip off! I'm sure I can get a better deal when I speak with a tmo rep on the phone instead of using the website to upgrade my phone. Am still on the fence to get 8800 now or wait until 8300 to come out this summer. I went to Cingular store a couple of times to try the 8800 model but am having a hard time to get used to the keypad. I think I will type slower to compose a message compared to my current model 8700g.

Hey ex-8700 or ex-72xx owner who now use 8800, are you able to get used to tight keypad compared to other models? Able to type faster now w/ 8800? I read that mostly says no, but few says yes. I know getting used to a new model takes a while but am still having a hard time to believe that I would type faster than my previous model...I came from 850 to 950 to 7290 and now 8700g.

The Tmo rep on the phone I dealt with yesterday offered me $349 with a 2-year contract extension or $399 with a one year. I took the one year extension. I didn't even have to "deal" with her. She threw in a free car charger also. I was an "upgrade" from a Pearl.
