I use the wall charger at home, the USB cord at the office connected to my computer, and the auto charger sometimes in the truck when I need it.
Never without a charge.

how are the car chargers with our phone. i always hear bad things about them and the kill the life of the battery. is that true with our phones? my last two phones i never used a car charger and th batteries in both still work like a charm. my previous phones i would have replaced the battery by now. just curious.

I say it has to do with the charger itself. I have always used OEM chargers on my phones (razr, treo, Q) and other than the Q, the battery life I have not seen a difference. The Q just had horrible battery to begin with.

On the otherhand, my brother bought a car charger from best buy and his battery took a dump, I'm not sure if it was OEM.

Car chargers now claim they have a special chip that prevents overcharging.

I use the dual auto/wall OEM charger. When traveling, only one charger is needed, pull it out of the truck or rental card and into the hotel room.

I've had bad luck with this charger... it often is hit or miss if it actually charges my device when used in the car.

No problem here, I've got two, one in both my vehicles.

Now, it won't work in my wife's volvo, however.

Default Seidio

I have this charger for my house:
Seidio Desktop Charger .. You just set the pearl into it and it charges. No USB cable to plug into the side. Works great. Charges through the contacts on the back of the phone.

I have had my Pearl since Nov and it charged great with the USB, Car and Wall. However, last week I was away for work and forgot my charger. One of my co-workers had a Razr charger I borrowed and I used that with no problems from the wall. Upon returning home, my home charger now takes about 8 hours to charge my phone. Its terrible. Car charger works fine. So I'd be cautious when buying a random charger with the Pearl.

That's so cool...I never noticed that you don't have to hook up the USB, and it will charge through a rubberized case.

Man...I am about two inches away from ordering. Didn't know something like that existed for the Pearl.

So far I've only used the wall plug and a usb cable from a computer. That desktop charger sure does look tempting...

I scored a legit oem battery from eBay so I'll be sure to test with the spare first

I use the Seidio cradle. It comes with a USB cable and an AC cable. There are 2 mini USB ports in the back, one connects to the computer, one to an outlet. A switch on the side allows you to switch from charge to sync. I'm very happy with it.

D

ETA - there's a small (3" or so) cable on the back of the cradle that comes up front and plugs into the phone. When not in use, it folds back and attaches to a cable holder on the back of the cradle.

I'm going to end up buying a standard cradle from Verizon. Its $30 but it was the same one from ebay that someone had posted, and with shipping I would only save $2.

For us Mac users, having a cradle that syncs also isn't worth it right now since Missing sync and Pocketmac are hit or miss

Does the Verizon cradle charge w/out having to hook up a USB connector to the Pearl? If not, the Seidio cradle still looks like the better option...

You plug the cable - USB or wall charger - into the cradle and sit the Pearl in the cradle. The two contacts on the back of the Pearl will charge the battery. You cannot sync with this cradle.

A cradle is very convient. I have two spare batteries. It keeps them charged, ona at a time. The BB sits in it on the desk. You can see the screen and use the phone easily while in the cradle. Beats just laying it on the desk.

This is the one I got.

Amazon.com: RIM Blackberry OEM Desktop Power Station + Extra Battery Charger fro Blackberry 8100 8100c 8130 Pearl - ASY-12733-001: Cell Phones & Service

I use this desktop charger and think it's great. First it has switchable cradles so when I went from the 8830 to the 8130 I didn't have to buy a new charger just the holder. Secondly, it uses the charging prongs on the back so no pluging in. It also allows you to charge a second battery in the back. Third, it has a charge plug on back for the BlackBerry BT headset. This is also and OEM product. Only bad thing is that you have to plug in the USB from the computer if you want to sync. It doesn't have a connection from the cradle to sync.
