Nope. You're still lost and obviously not listening to what I'm saying. I'm not complaining. Just trying to understand if this is normal or not. I love the phone and even bought another battery just in the case this is normal. Just stay out of the thread then.

And they are obviously not high expectations since many others are expecting the same and both my 7130 and 8830 easily met these expectations.

Okay, so I have had my replacement phone for 3 days now and this is much better. For me, it was definately a phone problem.

Now, I get home at night with at least 1/4 battery left. My usage is about the same as before: 2 hours or so talk time, 100 or so BES emails sent, BT headset all day, no internet (yet) or pop3 email.

I called Verizon VIP - went through them to regular level 1 tech support, tech put a note on my account that my phone was defective, I went to a VZW store where the manager saw the note on my account and gave me a replacement. Pretty painless - although it should never have happened in the first place.

So those of you with obviously bad battery life should try to get a replacement phone.

Good luck.

Default Facebook causing battery drain?

I found this on another site about the facebook app causing excessive battery drain. How many people here that have battery issues are using facebook?

I found that even after a week of poor life, if I conditioned it (let it run down twice to where the battery is low enough to turn the radio off and then recharged) it lasted so much longer.

After my phone said the battery was charged via usb, I took the battery out and put it in my external charger and it charged for a while more. Hmmm, phone must not have been charging it all the way. After the green light on my charger came on I kept pulling the battery and putting it back on the charger until it wouldn't take any more (the green light came on instantly). I then used bbLight to keep the backlight on and put the mp3 player into repeat mode to run the battery dead. I charged the battery with my external charger again. After the green light came on I pulled it out and put it back in and the green light came back on instantly (good sign it was fully charged). I'm going to run it down one more time and then charge it externally again. Hoping my battery was just not conditioned.

Stay tuned....

I am losing about 5% an hour with BIS and a couple of phone calls. I am going to try running it down to zero then fully charging.

An update...a friend w/the Verizon 8130 who was initially having short battery life is seeing better results recently...finishing up a full day of use (email, calls, text, not much browsing) w/the phone on all day and down two bars.

Mine last 1 and a half to two days depending how much I use it. I surf the web, check weather, use bluetooth to transfer stuff to phone, take pictures, use the phone, and text message and send and receive mail all throughout the day. I use BIS with two email accounts on it. I am very happy with the battery life I am getting. I was amazed that it will last two days (24hrs exactly) before it finally warns me of low battery life. Coming from the motoQ it is a big improvement for me. I have no complaints with the battery life.

Forgot to mention that I have my display set at 30 percent. So I know it would last even longer if I turned it all the way down but I am liking the results at 30%.

For those of you that are not getting great battery life, what are you carrying the pearl in? I read some posts taht poeple were getting the same battery life with their 8830 but did you use the holster with the magnet? i find that most people are not using that type of case with their pearl. the oem cases with magents dramatically save power consumption and are a great add on.

How do the magnets save power on the pearl? The screen seems to automatically shut off after about 30 seconds.

Default blackberry magnet

That is true but if you have the pearl in your pocket, even when the keyboard is locked, any push of any button brings the screen back on.

Even after I conditioned my battery I still didn't get much more life out of it. I stopped by the Verizon place at 3pm yesterday with 20% left. Told them what was going on and they swapped it out no questions asked. They said the one they were playing with lasted A LOT longer than mine and it was being passed around getting constant use. Hopefully this one will do better.

Well I guess it's time for an update....

The new phone is doing A LOT better. I now have roughly 60% by 3 or 4pm and am still at 40% by 6 or 7pm. It used to be dead by 3 or 4pm.

I made sure to cycle the new battery three times when new. I used the music player and bblight to run the phone dead before I went to bed and then charged it overnight with the phone off. I repeated the process the next two days and now I just top off my battery every evening.

I'm happy now : )

I've found that with medium usage (a few hours of video, under an hour of talk, ~2 MB surfing) it will last all day. With minimal usage (~30 emails/day and under 20 minutes talk) it will last 3 - 4 days.

coming from a 7130 i have noticed that the battery life is pretty lousy on the 8130, the phone seems to drain it the most. I bought an external battery charger($30) and extra battery($20) on line and the problem is solved. I also got the oem leather case($20) and it seems to last longer as it turnes the screen off as soon as you put it into the holster.

Best battery life out of any smartphone/pocket pc I have ever had!!! BY FAR!!

Heavy use, constant txting and emailing with a few voice calls in througout the day and my battery is at least at 50% when I leave work. Couldnt ask for more!!!

Any smartphone that can stand up to my use for one day straight gets two thumbs up in my book.

I agree that I'm happy if it lasts an entire day but it doesn't compare to some of the other blackberries I have like my 8830.

This is a huge difference. Explains it all.
