Please Login to Remove!

I installed the BB Desktop v4.3 WITH Media Mgr for the Pearl 8120, and when it says to go to "shared folder" to do something with that OS my program isnt there, only my old 8700c program is, so I guess its not the right one. Is that the correct one I'm supposed to dl for the Pearl 8120? Or is there another version I'm supposed to be downloading?

Running beta OS 4.5 (kids, do not try at home...professional driver on a closed course!)
Running lots of third party apps, keep trying new ones...

I already knew about deleting unused apps and unlocking vendor files, but this will help me free up memory and avoid crashes. Documents to go eats up a lot of memory!

Thanks, John!

Nah .37 works great for me. I've had 0 issues so far. I did go back to 4.2 for a while after the original .10 and .18 though as I was having problems not getting BB messages, losing service, etc. Guess if there's no way to get BB maps with 4.5 then I'll just live with Google Maps for now.

Default need help with memory and download managers

After reading all the great posts on memory leaks, I downloaded the specific download manager for my 8330 curve.this was an attempt to delete files not accessible under the generic download manager (ver 4.3) which works flawlessly.problem is,with the 8330 download manager, i get the infamous "device not found" error message, despite reboots, unplugs etc.
any help on this fix appreciated

Yes, you are supposed to download the OS to your PC.

The Desktop Manager v4.3 is not the handheld OS.

I'm stuck on step 6. The only apps listed in app loader are BBalerts and Berryacode. I see nothing else and it does not add/remove any alx files. When I click finish it says there is nothing to be done.

You missed the step where you install the OS to your computer (step 4, I think) or you didn't delete the vendor.xml file.

Well I had to install the OS to my computer to edit it right? And I did not see a vendor.xml, only vendor "html safari file". I deleted it.

I have no idea what files you edited. I don't know what "html safari file" you're referring to but that's not the file to delete.

You missed a step in there somewhere. The steps are:

1. Install Desktop Manger
2. Install Matching OS (look on your BB in Options >About to find your OS and install that OS in ADDITION to Desktop Manager.)
3. Make the edits
4. Run Desktop Manager with BB plugged in and open application loader. You should see a list of checkboxes. If nothing is there then the OS is not installed or the vendor.xml file is not deleted.

Here is a screenshot.

I had to have the OS installed in order to edit the files, so I had to have done that right. When I open DM I get a message saying "no applications configured for synchronization" which I figured was normal since I don't have Outlook and I can't sync my contacts. So I click OK on that and head over to the application loader in DM and the only two apps that appear are berryacode and bbalerts.

Your computer must have ".xml" files associated with Safari and it's not showing the extension either. You can to go Tools at the top of that screen and go into Folder Options and "show filename extensions." You can delete the vendor file you have highlighted there.

Please tell me what OS version is installed on your BB. On your BB go to Options >About and post the version.

Then go to Desktop Manager and go to Help >About. Look in the Device Software tab and tell me what versions are listed.

You didn't install the proper OS. You have to install 4.2.2.170 that is installed on your BB. That's why nothing shows up. Install the .170 version and make all your edits again.

Right click on the file and select "Open with." Then select "NotePad."
