You guys that are on ATT, have any of you noticed when you use streaming Apps, like Flycast, Slacker or Pandora you drop down to edge? Usually i hold full EDGE well, but when i stream is drops to edge and i lose all data capability, but yet the Apps stream fine. I cannot do sms, bbm, anything but make calls. If i close the App and turn my network connection off and back on, it will go back to EDGE, no problem. Of course, when i am on Wifi, this does not happen.
Anyone have any suggestions?
This is really my only issue with this phone on ATT. Besides MMS, but i don't wish to try and fix that, my browser works fine with my current service books and i don't want to risk losing my browser after every reboot.
I have only tried 5.0.0.517 or hybrids based of that OS. Currently i use .517 with the full Java files from .643.
I have a 9550, btw.

Every time I restart the device I get a 'Registration' email saying I've been registered on the mobile network. Not critical, but annoying.

Tony, I've never experienced that. If everything is working well for you, I'd ignore them. At least you know your connected to your network.  |

Yes, that was my experience, as well. It's discussed here in this thread a couple times, but there's nothing you can do (or that I could do) because of the type of data stream those apps are attempting to access. |

hi evri1.....jsander, i am rily confused abt sumfins in BB world! i read in one of ur posts that one can"t bypass BIS data plan! a friend of mine has been using his bb with all the application workin fine wivout paying for data plan for almost 2yrs now n his SIM works on ma bb too!! aw come tis is happening? can can 1 have unlimited data on bis for 2yrs!!!! wivout sub.

I would suggest that you inquire of that friend and have him explain specifically how he has done this! |

great instruction, i did everything and have EDGE for the majority of the time. However when i go on youtube or stream videos in the browser, it lags and changes to edge. i'm on a bb data plan (at&t) with an unlocked storm...any advice?

I'm about to purchase a bb storm 2 and i want it to work with no problem . my main question is will it work with tmobile 3g network and every other software that tmobile provides for its phones. does the phone need to be reflashed or just tweaked? if anyone knows how to work this phone, do give me a reply, thanks again!

No. Neither 9550 nor the 9520 will work on Tmobile's 3G network. You'll get EDGE if you follow the directions in the initial post in this thread, and you'll have WiFi.
You can upgrade the OS (you calll it "reflashing") if you want, that's up to you.
Tweaking, yea. Again, read the initial post in this thread.
Some streaming media apps (Pandora, for one) won't work. I don't know what software Tmobile has that you speak of, so I can't comment on that.

1. Can you get UTMS (3G) coverage in the states with the Storm 2?
2. I followed the directions but can not get the IMEI to register with att. Can I do that or does a store/customer service need to accommodate that request?
I believe this lack of registration is causing me to lack the ability to register on the network, download service books and use data services. Voice and Texting Does work.
3. Is it possible to have the phone configured such that it "dual boots" between carriers? If I can us the memory card as a storage for that data and service books?
4. Is it possible to "manually" enter service book data?

Storm2 9550 with No MMS Service record
Hi I did this process and every thing is working fine except when it comes to MMS, I get this message No MMS Service record, Message will be save to draft only. Thanks in advance for any help. My phone is Storm2 9550 with the latest Verizone release OS.

Any luck with this yet? I know it has taken me 20 attempts before the IMEI registration worked.

What carrier are you on?
Look at your Options > Advanced > Service Books.
Do you see an entry for MMS Client and MMS Transport? |
