I live, and swear by Jabra bluetooth for a few reasons.
1) Battery life is longer then most others
2) More comfortable (at least for me) then every other one
3) Price, you get what you pay for

I've owned moto's and even generics and Nokia's, the only two that hold regard is the Jabra and sony's HBH series (though form factor I dislike, feels like I'm wearing an earbud again).
Don't feel too outdated the BT500 and 800 aren't out yet.

You make a good point in that headsets are personal preference (fit / style) so sometimes the bells and whistles are secondary. Sempai and I can argue all day about bluetooth profiles but it doesn't mean much if the headset sucks. I have used the BT200 and find it to be very comfortable but could never get over the transceiver hanging off my Blackberry... I guess I will give it another go with the 7100t.

It feels like I'm trying meld plastic to my head. Unsuccessfully.
I think SE has some good headsets and we even have the HBH200 but *for me* it's less useful because I have the stupid controller hanging... might as well be wired headset!

I have one of the new Nokia HS4W coming on Monday so I will review it with the 7100t for all.

I think in the end we may be closer than we think in our opinions technical or otherwise so I'm glad I could get you fired up - makes for good forums.

rcg - keep us posted on that Nokia headset. Looks pretty sweet - I'd like to see a pic of it on someone so I can get an idea of real size and fit. Can't wait for your review...

Count on it. Though you may not want to see my ugly mug with a headset on... I will have to see if I can get one of the lovely ladies here to model for us.

I have an HS4W here in the office. It's nice.

I like that it doesn't put anything IN my ear. I should pair it to the 7100t and see what happens. It's about the same size as the Jabra BT200/250.

Has a very elegant shape though.

Do you have a link with any information on the Jabra BT500 or BT800?

There are press releases on Jabra's web site about the 500/800.

I have a Sony-Ericsson HBH-30. It is a heck of alot more comfortable than any ear-bud style earpiece I have used. It is also much more rugged compared to wired solutions - I always tangle the cord and feel I am going to pull the cord out of the earpiece.

One thing nobody has mentioned about the bluetooth headsets is the convenience of being able to put your phone down and walk around. My house gets a weak signal - I can place the phone in a good spot by the window and walk around (10 feet or so).

The cool factor is pretty fun too.. you get some weird looks when people see you talking without wires.

How do you like the HBH-30, specifically as compared to the HBH-65?

I own an HBH-65 and absolutely love it. Its got to be the most comfortable BT headset that I have tried.

One question: how does one get this headset to act in Headset mode vs. Handsfree with the 7100? The headset supports both and I would prefer not to use the Handsfree as it wastes battery and is annoying. ;)

I haven't used the HBH-65, but from what I have seen the HBH-30 has a slightly longer mic, which helps on the other end of the call. I haven't had any complaints of people not hearing me. Most can not tell I am using a cell phone, let alone a hands-free. I also like the weight of the battery pack on the over-the-ear portion - it helps keep the headset balanced and from moving on me.

I have been very happy with it - I bought it 2 years ago for use with a t68i and it worked great. Now with the 7100t, it paired right up and works great aswell. Now only if BB would come out with voice-dial...

I wish the prices back then were what they are now. I paid ~$110 for it!

Default Bluetooth Headsets

What is the difference between the 2 headsets listed below? Is one superior to the other?

The 810 has a boom and so is easy to turn on and off by just flipping the boom out. it is also bt 1.1 spec.

The 820 has no boom and is turned on/off with holding in a button for x amount of seconds. It is bt 1.2 spec.

I'd recommend the 810 for this BB.

Default headsets...

Having used both wired and wireless headsets... To me, wireless is the way to go. For an active person, the wires can just be ... oh so cimbersome. Where to put them. Getting them tangled and caught on stuff... yada yada yada. Did I just say yada yada yada! Yikes!

Not sure of the techie differences, but according to the Logitech web site their new Mobile Freedom headset supports BT 1.2 to provide, "adaptive frequency hopping, quick connect time, and improved audio quality."

BTW, does anyone know if the BT 1.1 in the 7100t be upgraded to BT 1.2 with a software update, or is it locked to the hardware?
