Default Lost Data

Please Login to Remove!

This morning our CEO looked at his Pearl and all of his phone calls history, emails before 9/13, and data in folders. He says he didn't do anything with it, just put it down and the next time he looked at it all the info was gone. The only thing I did was activate a different user on BES 4.1. Is there a way to get that data back onto his pearl?

Don't think the data can be restored...sounds like he is running low on memory, what is the free space in options>status?

Yes, it sounds like the same old same old low memory.

However, if you are BES, his email and such should be recoverable. His call history I don't think so, unless you log that.

Ah I know nothing of BES, so there you go, some good news, and I learned something.

I agree with the 2 posts above.

Some of the data should be recoverable, if you reactivate his device on the BES it should prepopulate his device with the last few days worth of email. Not all that was on the device.

CHeck the file free as mentioned in Options > Status. Pull the battery and then check again.

Also read up on some of these links for a better understanding of the issue.

Why is my 8100 Pearl losing its call logs or message logs? - BlackBerryFAQ
How can I free up memory on my 8100? - BlackBerryFAQ

This should really help the issue from reoccurring

Best of luck.

Can I restore wireless, or does he have to connect to desktop manager? If so, what are the steps?

Thanks for your response.

The BES contains the phone call log as part of the wireless backup, but no emails or PIM data. If you reactivate the user without removing him he will get the phone call logs but emails will not pre-populate unless the BES sees a new device/user.

There is a reg hack for this, it's on here somewhere. If you search for pre-population you should find it.

Sounds weird that he would lose the data unless he has severe memory loss on the Pearl.

I'm wondering if you would move the user's mail (in Outlook to a subfolder, etc.) that came in after 9/13, would the BB pre-populate a portion of his email to the device ending at those dates before and up to 9/13?
