Smile OS update question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all! I just got this phone not even 4 days ago. I am scared to death that I am going to run into some serious problems (as other users have reported) if i upgrade the os to 4.5. If I upgrade and i see problems is there anyway for me to just go back? Like take it back to factory settings? Thanks a bunch!

Wirelessly posted

Check the FAQ site it has instructions on upgrading/downloading the OS.

I can't post a like to it right now, or I would.

thank you so much! i have AT&T, I am so nervous to do this but after reading a lot about it should I just go ahead and do it? Or just wait for at&t to put it up for download? even though it's been months since 4.5 has been out?

As long as the OS is for your model (8310) and you follow the directions, it should work. Ultimately, it's up to you if you want to wait for AT&T to release it. We can't tell you to do it.

I don't see what your carrier has to do with it. Either you're comfortable/want to do it or you don't/aren't. We can't answer for you. Do what you want to do.

Backup your device with desktop manager before doing anything!

If your nervous, just back away slowly from your computer and everything will be just fine! Leave the thing alone and enjoy!

The loader.exe will automatically make a backup.

Wirelessly posted (T-Mobile Blackberry Curve 8320)

Is it true the new OS makes the bb slighty faster? Which is the best OS for me to get for my 8320 ? Thank you

You run the risk of bricking any BB when you perform an OS upgrade. I've done about 20 -30 BB OS Upgrades over the years and haven't had a problem yet. The key, IMO, is patience. If it seems like it's hung up, walk away and come back to it a half hour or more later.

IMO, its worth the risk. Just don't unplug the USB cable until you see the screen indicating that the update has completed.
