Default song order

Please Login to Remove!

I frequently listen to audio books on my blackberry on the commute in to work. I am having trouble figuring out how the default media player orders songs however. I've got a list of "songs" that have BookTitle 01.mp3 followed by BookTitle 02.mp3 etc. all the way to the end. So if it orders the songs by filename they should all be in order. They are not however. It orders them like: BookTitle 01.mp3 followed by BookTitle 10.mp3 then BookTitle 11.mp3, etc.

Does anyone know the way the default media player orders songs? I figured I might need to edit something in the ID3 tag but I don't know what to edit. I tried track number but Windows Media Player wouldn't let me put the track number as 01, as soon as I entered it WMP changed it to just 1 so I ran into the same issue when I loaded the songs back on my bb.

Thanks for the help!

The default sort order is by file name. If you are using 2 digit numbers it shouldn't be a problem.

Even with ID3 Tag the song still sorts by file name. Mp3tag (Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v1, ID3v2, APEv2)) is a great utility for editing information and managing file name.

You can also create a Playlist and put the files in the order you want. Here's one way to do it: How to Create a Personal Playlist for Use in Windows Media Player

i created an .m3u playlist and it did the trick. for some reason when i select "all songs" even though i put the "0" in front of the single digit numbers it still doesn't work. but creating a playlist with the songs in the correct order works just fine. Thanks x14
