Default OS: 9650 v6.0.0.2333/6.0.0.524 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9650 smartphone
This will install to any carrier's 9650 by following the instructions below.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.2333 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 6.0.0.2333
  • Consisting of:
  • Applications: 6.0.0.524
  • Software Platform: 4.4.0.438
  • File size: 147MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here:
BlackBerry® Software Updates

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9650:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Just got done installing the update. Very happy that they've finally solved the WiFi issue so that I can use my home network again when connecting to Pandora and browsing the internet. Not sure what other upgrades there were included but still tinkering with it to find out.

It would be nice if they announced what upgrades/patches were released with the update. I've looked but so far have been unable to find any information.

The copy and paste issue that came up in 6.0.0.443 and continued with 6.0.0.466 was resolved as well. The wifi issue was fixed in 443.

524 has the Thumbnail view for your bookmarks in the browser.

Thanks for adding the instructions, J.

You don't have to be a "verizon user" to get the download. It will work on any Bold 9650.

I just upgraded two days ago to .524 from .415. I got an "App Error 606 - Reset" message after a couple days on .415 (I was previously running OS 5.0.0.699 flawlessly) so I decided to go up rather than down and installed the latest version of OS 6. Installation of 6.0,0,524 via AppLoader went smooth as silk.

In the last two days I've had one random reboot, one each day. It happened both times when my BlackBerry was in it's case so the only indication was the startup chime after the reboots finished. No problem, but I don't want this to be the beginning of more serious stability issues. Is anybody else experiencing any instability with 6.0.0.524?

Random reboot has been an issue for some Bold 9650 users all the back way to at least 5.0.0.732. I had it happen one time when I was running 732, and hasn't happened since.

Could you have bumped the convenience key that launches the camera? That's a known cause for the reboot issue. The smart-wifi app is another known culprit.

My BlackBerry was in a slip-in sleeve case in my pocket both times. I suppose it could have been jiggled and the button got bumped. I don't see it as likely, but definitely not ruled out.

As for the smart-wifi app, I've never heard of it. I rarely use WiFi and when I do I use the Network Connections app that's part of the OS.

You can put any Verizon number in that field for download. Anybody in your contacts list that has Verizon service. They won't get any spam from it or any contact from Verizon.

I've been running .524 since I downloaded it as a beta on March 21st, 2011. In my opinion this is the best OS6 version for the 9650 yet - I had random reboots, a cursor issue, and draft SMS messages on previous iterations. Since installing this version, for almost 2 months now everything has worked FINE!

Glad to see Verizon validated this release. Now I won't have to lie if I ever contact them for support

And completely off topic, I want Verizon to release a CDMA Torch2!

You can download it IN THIS THREAD if you don't want to go through Verizon. The rapidshare link still works.

You can put in 555-555-5555 and get it, you don't have to put a real phone number in.
