Default Switch from Pocket PC?

Has anyone recently switched from a Pocket PC format and what are your thoughts vs the 8830?

I have had mine since the day of release with sprint, pulled it out of the box, called and got it activated from my old 7520, sync'd it and you can have it when you can pry it from my cold dead hands! Great engineering feat!!

Default Sprint 8830

Well I recieved mine due to the fact that my 7130e was acting up and pushed for a new model from Sprint. I recieved it my 8830 over the weekend.
It takes a little getting use to as you use the trackball instead of the wheel but I like it. Plus the data semms faster for some reason not sure but that could be due to the coverage area. I have not tried the modem yet but plan to do so soon. As that was my biggest issue with the 7130e.

I am wondering how it works when you convert to GSM?? Has anyone tried that feature yet?

I like the microSD I think it adds alot of value for one to store docs, mp3, pics, videos..etc.

RIM = the company that makes the 8830 you own.

Yes, there are some new versions coming out with cameras and WiFi, but it will probably be next year b/f they reach Sprint.

I am sure there are some here who have experienced this - but I have read in a few other places that folks have "hit the ground running" when landing in Paris and the UK. You realize that it will NOT work on GSm in the US, right?

Yes it is really easy to set up. I work for sprint and I have the 8830 and AIM works so much faster then it does on the 8703e and 755p. What is also cool is that it is free to download.

Yeah, but, the free AOL program is terrible. It like almost never refreshes the buddy list. It doesnt even offer full status support. I guess, if you dont use it that much, then its not a big deal. For me though, well, lets just say, I MISS MY JIVETALK! My license ran out yesterday and I dont get paid til Friday!

Hello everyone! Coming from years using Wm5/Wm6, I can tell you "So Far" my spanking new 8830 Sprint which I got yesterday has been really good to me! True, no cam, no wifi, no reboot(Which I don't miss dearly); however with the EVDO plan, it actually clocked in faster than my HTC S630 on ATT 3G/HSPDA! Comparing to the WM6 recent units I'd phutted with, the 8830 is just that much bit thicker than the HTC S630, but way sexier than the Trinity 3600. The GPS works well, even though still don't know how to utilise TOMTOM (If possible at all). Call quality and reception is well, comparing to regular clamshell samsung (In Los Angeles area, CA).
Still reading the damn manual and this wonderful forum for tips and how-tos. So far R.I.M. had made a happy camper out of me!

Default Finally

got my Jivetalk back! I don't know how I lived without it. Still too bad IM+ doesn't have profile infusion, I really liked the depth of that program.

Default All the above!

Hey ya'll! New to the forum! Just got my Sprint 8830 yesterday as well and must say I am very pleased with the functionality and performance. Considering I travel overseas quite a bit it was a logical choice. I did get the 2G micro-SD card and a couple of other goodies, so I think I will definitely enjoy the phone.

I got my Sprint 8830 a week ago, and I LOVE it. :D

Goodbye sidekick forever. ( To be fair, sidekick is pretty tough... I accidentally drop and kicked it, and when I tripped in dark, I threw it hard towards concrete floor once! Ouch! )

T-Mobile had locked sidekick so tight, I had to actually buy ring-tone I can't hear so I can have different vibration pattern. :(
