For those of you who upgraded to this version, would you recommend it for 4.2 users? What is the biggest difference? Is it just the boot up time?

The 4.5.0.69 (92) upgrade brings the 8700 visually closer to usability enhancements seen on standard PC operating systems - of course cell phones are limited by comparison. Email capability is richer with HTML, BB messenger has been upgraded and most of the annoying bugs were fixed.

I think the upgrade runs faster overall. Bug fixes to the TCP stack or API are also present. Applications that had issues with 4.2, now run correctly with 4.5.0.69 (92).

The Internet Browser interface was redone - very nice. Support for multiple Calendars was added - another nice feature.

Summary: This upgrade is now mature and worth the effort to install. Be prepared for small interface changes, but all better than 4.2.

Back up your system, install it, and see what you think. Nice upgrade

The fonts look a little different, but overall an excellent upgrade.

I downloaded this onto my old Blackbery 8700g and it sharpened it up i reckon - definately quicker and smoother scorlling through the menu's and also when texting...

Yes, there are difference, therefore the difference in the release numbers.

Upgrade if you feel you need to do so, if you have an isuse or bug unresolved in the older version.

Default Upgrade hiccups...

Need some help with upgrading to the latest OS and Desktop Manager for:

8700, v4.104.194 (Platform 2.0.0.90)
Laptop with WinXP SP2

1) Installed the desktop manager s/w v4.2. SP2 and deleted the vendor.xml file. I now receive an error at boot up: "The instruction at "0x60f04d76" referenced memory at "0x60f04d76". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program."

I click on cancel. Seems like a lot of HD activity following but I still get the error next boot up.

2) Desktop manager never prompts for upgrade. I have the new device OS downloaded and installed on my laptop, connected the 8700 and opened the desktop manager.

Thoughts?

1. Try installing DM versions 4.5 or 4.6.

2. Did you delete the vendor.xml file AFTER you install the OS upgrade?

3. There is a more up-to-date OS, I just posted...

Wirelessly posted (Pearl Crackhead!!)

Is anyone having trouble using the Internet Browser/Blackberry Browser with this os? I have the BIS plan on at&t network, and using an 8700c with this os! FYI: I have tried a couple different 4.5 os's with this device and still no Blackberry Browser! Media Net/Cingular Browser works fine. Just wondering if its just me?

Default Os 4.5.0.69

Can you tell me the link to get this OS for a Pearl 8110 through AT&T, I do not really want .81, I have heard that .69 is more stable. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks in advance.
