FYI, I use Mail2web.com ...which gives you push email and 1GB (vs. 500MB) for.....FREE

Brightcell: 4smartphone is turning out to be fine. No problems at all and all e-mail arrives on the BJ like the Blackberry. Is mail2web instant and do they have a decent filtering mechanism so I keep out the spam? I can't tell from the website.

This is a Windows Mobile issue, nothing exclusive to the Blackjack.

If the Blackjack has Windows Mobile, it IS the issue. It is not like one can change the OS. They did not send the extra battery for nothing

The battery life on the BJ is terrible for very simple people who cannot comprehend that if you use the $30 extended battery instead the battery life is excellent. So far today, with the extended battery, according to my call history I have made calls of 48 mins, 52 mins, 19 mins, 18 mins, 35 mins, 22 mins, 3 mins, 2 mins, 14 mins, and some calls to voicemail, received about 50 -70 emails, browsed the news early in the morning on Yahoo and RSS, and I am on 70% power at 1:52 p.m. The phone has been on 3G all the time with screen setting 2. So go kid yourselves that the BJ battery life is terrible. That's your problem. In fact, you just want to justify why you still have a Blackberry by blanking out the facts.

I'm not disagreeing, only clarifying. Any/all Windows Mobile devices have terrible battery life by comparison.

Yes, with Windows Mobile Smartphone [Lite] Edition and a slow processor. Bully for you, my good man!

Funny thing is ... with your extended battery rated at 330 mins, that 70% will only last you a couple more hours since the above is 213 minutes (so far). At least you'll make through the day. Have fun.

Backbeat: Keep throwing the softballs. Until you've spent a week using one, you just don't know - and don't tell me you've been using one because if you had you would find it just as fast as the Blackberry. Processing speed is a complete non-issue. It's all specs and theory to you - not actual experience. Oh incidentally, if BJ is lite with all its features, then what is the 8700? Ultra-ultra-lite?

Right on backbeat. I'll go back to an 1100 mAh battery on the Blackberry and give up my 1800 mAh battery on the BJ. Good idea.

Processor speed contributes (or detracts from) battery life, which was the only reason why I mentioned it. Your 220 Mhz processor is still slower and more abused by an bolted-together OS vs Blackberry's stable and efficient OS which allows its battery to last rediculously long. Happy soft-resetting, amigo.

Well I've had the BJ for a month and I've never reset it so I really wouldn't know. I don't even know how to reset it. Take the battery out I suppose. But keep on thinking of stuff to say because this is fun. Why don't you get one on a 30-day trial, try it for at least a week, and then tell me how bad it is. Maybe I'll believe you then because you'll actually have some knowledge.

3:20 p.m. and still on 70% but no calls or browsing in the last hour. Received a few pushed e-mails.

Well, if nothing else, you've clearly succeeded in defining yourself. Good for you!

I bought the BJ and returned it the same day. I find the typing input was to slow and at the speed I type it would miss keystrokes. It was very clunky. My Pearl is way faster and smoother.
