Are you going to get an 8800 now?!?!

Is it still worth getting an 8800 after what BG said about the 9xxx series coming out 4Q of 2007?

I am going to wait. Gotta have that 3G support. I could careless about a full keyboard. My Pearl will hold out until then.

I will wait as well. I was very excited about the 8800 but with the iPhone and 9xxx on the horizon (far, distant horizon) I will grab an 8700 off eBay when all the 8800 converts offload, and it will last me till Q4. I don't like the thought of paying for a full (or near full) price device twice in the span of 10 months, and I know I'll want that 9xxx when it arrives.
I wonder if the BG leak will have any impact on the timetable at all. I still think the 8800 will sell well, but the iPhone stole a little thunder, and the news that a better (9xxx) model is in the works just stole a little more. Here's hoping RIM will ramp up their dev teams and slide 9xxx into Q2/Q3 somewhere (wishful thinking, I know).

IMHO, 3G isn't all that its made out to be. Drains the battery and you need the more expensive dataplans to take advantage of it.
I used it for a month or so on the Blackjack and wasn't that impressed, so I went back to my 8700.

No waiting here. 3G will not get me my email any quicker than edge. I am not teathering or downloading HUGE files. Most want their email and a good phone and I have used a 3G device and it, well it was not that good or fast!
Giive me the 8800 now and I will look at the new and buy it later!

Thats a great idea.. i think i might do that as well.. pick up an 8700 off the 8800 converts, then upgrade to the 9xxx w/ a discount that I'll be waiting on.. :D

i will wait to see it work and get the final specs.
iphone + 9900 coming make it hard to justify.
if i get it for $99 like my 8700 then im in, but i dont think rogers will do that this time.

Seeing as the 8800 is basically just a qwerty Pearl, I think I'm going to wait as well...

Yeah, this news does stink. So basically, the 8800 is an 8700 but with a microSD and GPS. I do really like the idea of the GPS option... but it is tempting to wait since there will be TWO devices coming out that might be woth the wait... the iPhone and the 8900.
The only thing is - I wouldn't be surprised if the 8900 that will be "coming out in Q4" will be more like Q1 of '08... lol.

To be honest, I still am going to get the first 8800 I can get my hands on just to get a better phone than I have now.
It just makes it all the more tempting with added features like Wifi, 3G, a camera, or whatever else they add on.
I've waited this long for a full QWERTY version of the Pearl? I think I'll enjoy it because of the full QWERTY but not as much as if it had additional options.
Patience truely does pay off eventually for future models, it just takes awhile and that's the hardest part.

I am waiting for the 10xxx which I heard has iTunes, 4G and Wimax built in.
Oops - that's for the rumors thread.

So will the 8800 have GPS, or is that another false rumor?
Stupid question, what's the difference between BBMaps and GPS? Is GPS like Google Earth? Or does the GPS actually give the pin point technical GPS locations on the 8800 and directions like in an actual Garmin GPS. If so, I don't need GPS, I have a Garmin system already.

The first verison on the 8800 or Indigo has GPS but no wifi. The GPS uses blackberry maps.
