I temporarily switched it to app switcher but ended up missing the Voice Dial and switched it back.

Default RE: What do you use the convenience key for?

To manage my connections especially bluetooth. This way I can easily turn bluetooth off if not needed to prolong the slightly short battery life of the 8830!

I did this and I LOVE it. If you like to be able to type the name of a person and choose to call, SMS, MMS, email, etc them, you simply press "A" before you type the name, and voila.

I use my quick key for my calendar, which I prefer to view in "Journal" mode.

(I know, I know, I can just press "L" to pull up the calendar, but for some reason, it's much more mindless to enter new appointments and reminders if I just think to press the soft key, instead of the "L" key.... I could just as well have it programmed for the key lock, but pressing Alt + Enter is just as easy for me).

Personally, I'd like to have a couple of soft keys, but you can't always get what you want.

Mine launches JiveTalk ... for now
I'm slowly getting more and more irritated with accidentally pressing it all the time!

I'll think about changing it to something else I guess ...

Google Maps, one of the other apps that should have its own shortcut key.

Another vote for Application Switcher. I bounce back & forth using the BB Browser & Opera Mini for reading multiple websites. Great for one-handed use while I'm commuting on the bus or subway.

I changed mine to Nothing hoping that to save battery life by not turning on the screen every time I accidentally hit it.

Unfortunately, it turns on the screen to do nothing also.
