Default GPS website or software

Please Login to Remove!

The one thing I liked about my older motorolla phone on Nextel was the built in GPS. I acutally used it to enter the location information on control systems I install that use astronomical time clocks.

Does anyone know of a website or software for the blackberry where you could get approximate GPS location via zip code or something similar. I only can browse to WAP sites because it is on Nextel.

Thanks,

I don't have an answer regarding the GPS websites but you can browse HTML using a program called Webviewer by Reqwireless. We use a lot of 7510's and have very good luck with that app.

Also Nextel is set to release the 7520 which has A-GPS like your old NExtel phone.. that BB should be out in a month.

I guess I should have waited for the new phone. I just got my 7510 and I guess I will look into the HTML compatible browser.

Hopefully, someone will have a good site they can suggest.

i would honestly search in google for the name of a website that does that and add 'wap' at the end of the search query. for instance, mapquest has http://wl.mapquest.com/gb/ as their wap-enabled site.

Thanks, but that does not look like for US. No US postal code could be found.

okay, http://wireless.mapquest.com/wml/

however, the zip code function doesn't seem to work, so you'll have to work with searching by state/city.

http://wireless.mapquest.com/Palm/v3.0/ will work better with B&W and minimal graphics. looks like it was made for the Palm VII...

http://www.mapquest.com/pda/main.adp will work the same as above but with less graphics.

Excellent! This one works perfectly! Thank you very much! I am surprised you can dig this out. I looked on the mapquest web site and it does not have these listed.

Thanks for the input but I actually need the longitude and latitude informaiton. I had trouble getting the mapquest stuff to work on my 7510. I downloaded a trial of the webviewer and found this site to be useful for my info. Wish they would just make the Nextel browser HTMl compatible, would make life a bit easier.

www.zipinfo.com/search/zipcode.htm is the site that gave me the info I needed.

Mike
